GEOTECHNICAL
ENVIRONMENTAL
WATER RESOURCES
EN CONSTRUCTION SERVICES
Expect Excellence-- -
COASTAL/MARINE GEOTECHNICS
Project No.
5044.000.016
November 11, 2022
Mr. Jeff Wong
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
1868 East Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, CA 95205
Subject River Islands—Levee Relief Wells
Lathrop, CA
WORK PLAN FOR RELIEF WELL INSTALLATION
Dear Mr. Wong:
As requested by our client, Reclamation District 2062, ENGEO has prepared this work plan to
construct 28 groundwater relief wells at the subject project in Lathrop, California within the River
Islands development.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Project is located at 4500 Stewart Road in Lathrop, California, approximately 1 mile southwest of
the intersection of Paradise Road and Stewart Road, as shown in the Vicinity Map (Figure 1). The
parcels are identified as Assessor's Parcel Numbers(APNs) 213-11-004 (approximately 401.37 acres
in area) and 213-11-003 (approximately 151 acres in area). The APNs were identified using the San
Joaquin County online GIS database. No address is listed for APN 213-11-004.
We present this work plan to the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department and request
approval to perform the services described below.
SCOPE OF WORK
A total of 28 wells are proposed to be constructed, as shown in Site Plan (Figure 2).
Relief Well Construction
We will coordinate with a licensed drilling contractor to drill the relief wells. At least 2 business days
prior to drilling,we will mark the site for an Underground Service Alert(USA)utilities check. Drilling for
relief wells will be completed using the mud-rotary drilling method utilizing a 10-inch-diameter auger
to accommodate a 2.5-inch-diameter tremie pipe in the 3-inch-wide annulus to a depth of
approximately 55 feet. Potable water will be used to mix the drilling mud.
Once the drilling is completed, the hole will be sounded to assure an open hole to the required depth.
The wells will consist of a 4-inch-diameter 304L schedule 10S blank casing from just below the existing
ground surface to an approximately Elevation -10 feet (NAVD88) followed by a 4-inch-diameter
stainless-steel,wire wrapped screen beginning at an approximately Elevation-10 feet and terminating
at an approximately Elevation -40 feet. The bottom of the casing will consist of a sand cellar and
bottom cap terminating at an approximately Elevation-45 feet. All casing and screens will be new,and
connections will utilize flush threaded connectors. Casing centralizers will be placed on blank casing
directly below and above the well screen.
17278 Golden Valley Parkway, Lathrop CA 95330 • (209)835-0610 • Fax(888)279-2698
www.engeo.com
