Health and Safety Plan <br /> 1319 & 1327 South Madison Street, Stockton,CA <br /> 432770 <br /> A E I <br /> Consultants <br /> o Attempt to identify if the utility was just encountered or is actually damaged. <br /> o If the utility was encountered but not damaged,such as the uncovering of a utility <br /> during hand clearing,then the boring and utility location should be noted,marked <br /> on the ground with the appropriate color paint,and the boring should be backfilled. <br /> A new boring could then be attempted in an alternate location following the <br /> procedure in Section 3.0 if it can be safely sited. <br /> o If the utility was damaged or was potentially damaged,the boring location should <br /> be secured and the project supervisor should be consulted. Depending on the <br /> type of utility,further actions may include contacting the utility directly,uncovering <br /> the utility and subsequent repairs. <br /> All utility strikes are to be reported immediately to the project supervisor, Director of Site <br /> Mitigation, the Director of Health and Safety (via safetyfirst@aeiconsultants.com), and the <br /> Regional Director of the State where the work is occurring. Failure to report utility damage will <br /> be considered a breach of professional conduct and may be subject to disciplinary action. <br /> 3.0 SUBSURFACE CLEARANCE <br /> The purpose of this section is to provide guidance to protect underground facilities, owners of <br /> these facilities, the environment, and workers when conducting drilling or other below-ground <br /> exploration or invasive activities. Risks can be minimized though not eliminated when proper <br /> clearance procedures are followed. Underground facilities include, but are not limited to: <br /> • Underground Utilities <br /> o Fiber Optic Lines <br /> o Storm Drains <br /> o Sanitary Sewer Lines <br /> o Electrical Lines <br /> o Natural Gas Lines <br /> o Landscape Irrigation Lines <br /> o Local Drainage Lines <br /> o Municipal or Private water lines <br /> o Facility process equipment/pipe runs <br /> o Manholes <br /> • Overhead Utilities <br /> o Electrical Lines <br /> o Telephone Lines <br /> • Underground Storage Tanks <br /> o Fuel(Gasoline, Diesel, Heating Oil)Tanks,Chemical Tanks <br /> o Waste Oil Tanks <br /> o Septic Tanks <br /> o Sumps,Clarifiers <br /> • Underground vaults or other equipment <br />
