Field Practices and Procedures
Page 6
Equipment Cleaning
All equipment that will be placed in the boring, or will come into contact with
groundwater, will be disassembled and cleaned thoroughly with an aqueous non-
phosphate solution cleanser, rinsed with tap water, and rinsed a second time with
deionized water. Any parts that may absorb contaminants will be cleaned as described
above or replaced. Soil samples will be collected in new, pre-cleaned containers (e.g.
brass sleeves, acrylic tubes). The sample containers will be inserted into pre-cleaned
sampling equipment. All rinsate produced by the decontamination of the sampling
equipment will be stored in DOT-approved 55-gallon steel drums. The drums will be
appropriately labeled and stored at the Site pending proper disposal. A licensed
contractor will transport the soil and wastewater to an appropriate facility (based on
analytical results) for disposal.
