Do not endanger your own life.
Do not enter an area to rescue someone who has been overcome unless properly equipped and
trained. Ensure that all protocols are followed. If applicable, review Material Safety Data Sheets
(MSDS)to evaluate response actions for chemical exposures.
• Call the appropriate emergency number (911, if available) or direct someone else to do this
immediately. Be prepared to explain the physical injury, chemical exposure, fire, or release and
location of the incident.
• Have someone retrieve the nearest first aid kit and Automated External Defibrillator (AED), if
available. Only use an AED if you have been properly trained and are currently certified to do so.
• Administer first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), if properly trained, until emergency
responders arrive.
• Report incident as described in Section 10 Incident Reporting.
• In the event that evacuation is required, the onsite CDIM project manager or SHSO must perform
a head count to verify that all personnel have been accounted for.
• Personnel qualified and current in basic first aid and/or CPR procedures may perform those
procedures, as necessary. Personnel qualified and current in basic first aid and/or CPR are
protected under Good Samaritan policies as long as they only perform the basic tasks that they
were taught. Do not perform first aid and/or CPR tasks if you have not been trained in first aid
and/or CPR.
10 INCIDENT REPORTING
Project personnel are required to report injuries, illnesses, accidents, and near-miss incidents that have
the potential for injury or property damage to their immediate supervisor at or immediately following the time of
the incident. Upon receipt of a report, the supervisor shall notify the SHSO. The supervisor and the SHSO will
immediately notify the CDIM project manager and Owner and work together to document the incident and take
appropriate action.
CDIM—Fairgrounds Industrial Park Page 14
