C , HSP-6
/1 Infectious Disease Response and Preparedness Plan
""°'"""'"° July 25, 2022
5. If an employee goes home because they are sick, the entire general area where the infected
employee worked, including breakrooms, restrooms, their work area, and tools should be
disinfected. Temporarily close the area until cleaning is complete; and
6. Inform employees of their possible exposure to COVID 19 while maintaining confidentiality.
6.8Training
When this HSP is applicable, all employees who use COVID 19 protection (required or voluntary) must
receive annual training that is comprehensive and understandable. The training should explain:
• The need for COVID 19 protection;
• Symptoms of COVID 19, transmission, asymptomatic transmission, and prevention;
• The limitations and capabilities of face coverings, P100 or N95 respirator;
• The use of COVID 19 protection during emergencies;
• Training associated with HSP-2, Respiratory Protection, if a respirator is worn.
Training will be repeated as necessary, and at least annually,to ensure that employees remain familiar with
the proper use of respiratory protection. Retraining should be provided if:
• Changes render previous training obsolete;
• Inadequacies in the employee's knowledge indicates that the employee has not retained the
requisite understanding or skill; or
• Any other situation arises in which retraining appears necessary.
The training program should be evaluated at least annually by the HSPM to determine its continued
effectiveness.
6.9 Recordkeeping
To document COVID 19 protection activities, the following records must be maintained by the SHSO:
• A written copy of the current COVID 19 HSP; and
• If a respirator is worn, medical determination of fitness records and current fit test records as
required by HSP-2, Respiratory Protection;
All records should be maintained for at least 30 years.
6.10 Program Evaluation
To ensure the proper use of COVID 19 protection, the HSPM should periodically review the effectiveness
of the COVID 19 Program by:
• Conducting frequent, unscheduled observations of employee activities;
• Observing use and discussing program with new employees to confirm that proper instructions and
training have been provided, and that PPE is appropriate for the expected site hazards.
7.0 REFERENCES
• Corporate Safety Program (CSP)
• 29 CFR 1910, Occupational Safety and Health Standards
• 29 CFR 1926, Safety and Health Regulations for Construction
• 29 CFR 1910.134, Respiratory Protection
• 29 CFR 1926.103, Respiratory Protection
0 8 CFR 5144, Respiratory Protective Equipment
