If an employee goes home because they are sick, the entire general area where the infected <br /> employee worked, including breakrooms, restrooms, their work area, and tools should be <br /> disinfected. Temporarily close the area until cleaning is complete; and <br /> 6. Inform employees of their possible exposure to COVID 19 while maintaining confidentiality. <br /> 6.8Training <br /> When this HSP is applicable, all employees who use COVID 19 protection (required or voluntary) must <br /> receive annual training that is comprehensive and understandable. The training should explain: <br /> • The need for COVID 19 protection; <br /> • Symptoms of COVID 19, transmission, asymptomatic transmission, and prevention; <br /> • The limitations and capabilities of face coverings, P100 or N95 respirator; <br /> • The use of COVID 19 protection during emergencies; <br /> • Training associated with HSP-2, Respiratory Protection, if a respirator is worn. <br /> Training will be repeated as necessary, and at least annually,to ensure that employees remain familiar with <br /> the proper use of respiratory protection. Retraining should be provided if: <br /> • Changes render previous training obsolete; <br /> • Inadequacies in the employee's knowledge indicates that the employee has not retained the <br /> requisite understanding or skill; or <br /> • Any other situation arises in which retraining appears necessary. <br /> The training program should be evaluated at least annually by the HSPM to determine its continued <br /> effectiveness. <br /> 6.9 Recordkeeping <br /> To document COVID 19 protection activities, the following records must be maintained by the SHSO: <br /> • A written copy of the current COVID 19 HSP; and <br /> • If a respirator is worn, medical determination of fitness records and current fit test records as <br /> required by HSP-2, Respiratory Protection; <br /> All records should be maintained for at least 30 years. <br /> 6.10 Program Evaluation <br /> To ensure the proper use of COVID 19 protection, the HSPM should periodically review the effectiveness <br /> of the COVID 19 Program by: <br /> • Conducting frequent, unscheduled observations of employee activities; <br /> • Observing use and discussing program with new employees to confirm that proper instructions and <br /> training have been provided, and that PPE is appropriate for the expected site hazards. <br /> 7.0 REFERENCES <br /> • Corporate Safety Program (CSP) <br /> • 29 CFR 1910, Occupational Safety and Health Standards <br /> • 29 CFR 1926, Safety and Health Regulations for Construction <br /> • 29 CFR 1910.134, Respiratory Protection <br /> • 29 CFR 1926.103, Respiratory Protection <br /> 0 8 CFR 5144, Respiratory Protective Equipment <br />
