Soil Sampling Workplan
BNSF Mariposa Intermodal Facility
Stockton, CA
Soil borings will be advanced using hand auger and/or direct push drilling methods capable of
lithological logging. At each boring location, lithological core samples will be continuously logged
in accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS).
Samples will be collected using a hand auger for shallow borings (up to 5 feet) or a direct push
drill rig for deeper borings (up to 15 feet). Soil samples will be placed in laboratory-provided
glass jars and kept on ice. Samples will be collected using standard industry practices, including
worker safety protocols, equipment decontamination, sample handling, and chain-of-custody
documentation.
A total of 20 soil samples will be analyzed by Pace, a State-certified chemical laboratory, under
standard turnaround time for the following:
• Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH) as Gasoline, Diesel, and Oil by EPA Methods
8260/8015
• CAM 17 Metals by EPA Methods 6010/6020/7470/7471
• Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) by EPA Method 8260
• Semi-Volatile Organic Compounds (SVOCs) by EPA Method 8270
Upon completion, sample locations will be backfilled with grout to match existing grade. Soil
cuttings and other investigation-derived waste will be drummed and staged onsite pending
analytical results.
2.3 Reporting
Following receipt of the laboratory analytical data, TRC will prepare a report summarizing the
results with a table showing analytical data and a figure showing sample locations. Per permit
requirements, a report of findings will also be submitted to San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department.
3.0 Schedule
Sampling activities will commence following receipt of the soil boring permit from San Joaquin
County and coordination with the driller. The report summarizing the results of the soil sampling will
be submitted within 30 days of receipt of laboratory data.
4.0 Closing Statement
If you have any questions or require any additional information, please call Rachelle Clair at
925-688-2464.
Sincerely,
TRC SOLUTIONS, INC.
,ONAL Char©
l 4L RACHELLE N /am-
CLAIR
Rachelle Clair, PG • No.8713 Laura Tait, PG
Project Manager (P Exp.
