Biohazardous waste shall be bagged and placed in a rigid container which is leak resistant, have tight-fitting cover, and be <br />kept clean and in good repair. Container shall be labeled with the words “Biohazardous Waste’’ or “BIOHAZARD” on the lid and <br />on the sides so as to be visible from any lateral direction. Properly label the biohazard waste containers and provide <br />photographic evidence to the EHD. <br />2. Biohazardous waste shall be bagged and placed in a rigid container which is leak resistant, have tight-fitting cover, and be <br />kept clean and in good repair. Container shall be labeled with the words “Biohazardous Waste” or “BIOHAZARD” on the lid and <br />on the sides so as to be visible from any lateral direction. Ensure the biohazard waste container has a tight fitting lid. Provide <br />photographic evidence to the EHD. <br />CORRECTIVE ACTIONS: <br />Sharps waste shall be placed in a sharps container. Full sharps container ready for disposal shall be taped closed or tightly lid <br />and stored onsite not more than 30 days. Sharps container shall be labeled with the words “Sharps Waste” or BIOHAZARD”. <br />Properly label the sharps waste container and provide photographic evidence to the EHD. <br />CORRECTIVE ACTIONS: <br />Designated accumulation area shall be secured by use of locks on entry doors, gates, or receptacle lids and marked with warning <br />sign, “CAUTION-BIOHAZARDOUS WASTE STORAGE AREA—UNAUTHORIZED PERSONS KEEP OUT”, in English and in <br />another language determined to be appropriate by the infectious control staffer LEA. Warning signs shall be readily legible <br />during daylight from a distance of at least 25 feet. Replace the accumulation room sign with a larger sign and provide <br />photographic evidence of correction to the EHD. <br />Reinspecion on/about: <br />EH-2/2023 <br />26. HSC 118285 - Sharps waste shall be containerized and stored pursuant to this section. <br />OBSERVATIONS: <br />The sharps waste container located in the lab of 530 W Acacia St (see PHOTO 17) was not properly labeled. <br />30. HSC 118310 - Designated accumulation area shall be secured and marked with proper signage. <br />OBSERVATIONS: <br />The accumulation room sign is not legible from a distance of 25 feet (see PHOTO 2). <br />MEDICAL WASTE INSPECTION REPORT <br />San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department <br />1868 E. HSC 118280 - Biohazard bags shall be containerized and stored pursuant to this section. <br />OBSERVATIONS: <br />1. The biohazard waste containers located in the designated accumulation room (see PHOTO 3), Chute Room (see PHOTO 6), <br />and 3rd Floor - Soiled Utility Room (see PHOTO 15) were not properly labeled. <br />2. The biohazard waste container located in the Cath Lab (see PHOTO 9) did not have a tight-fitting lid.
