The materials in this process <br />include the following: <br /> <br />• Recyclable materials. <br />• White goods (large appliances). <br />• Used tires. <br />• Batteries. <br />• Metal; and <br />• Hazardous materials <br /> <br />Inert Materials Receiving, Processing, <br />Excavating, Storage, and Shipment: Activities <br />associated with this process consist of the inbound <br />and outbound transport, storage, and processing of <br />inert materials including soil (not including borrow <br />soil), rock, concrete, asphalt, etc. which is used for <br />daily cover. The materials in this process include the <br />following: <br /> <br />• Soil. <br />• Crushed concrete / asphalt and rubble; and <br />• Aggregate. <br /> <br />Universal Waste Receiving, Storage, and Shipment: <br />Activities associated with this process consist of the <br />inbound and outbound transport, storage, and processing of <br />universal waste including television monitors, white goods <br />(domestic appliances such as washer, dryers, and <br />refrigerators), and other electronic devices (e-waste). The <br />materials in this process include the following: <br /> <br />• Universal Waste (television monitors, white <br />goods, and other electronic e-waste which may <br />contain Freon or other coolants, heavy metals, <br />oils/greases, etc.) <br /> <br />The above industrial activities may include the following potential pollutants: oil and grease, <br />hydrocarbons, sediment, heavy metals, pesticides, herbicides, pathogens, organic <br />(oxygen demanding) materials, pH altering substances, dissolved solids, and refuse. <br />Figure 8 - Items that have been separated in the recycling center are placed in bins for transportation to on-site or off-site recyclers <br />Figure 9 - Area for receiving inert materials such as soil and concrete <br />Figure 10 - Household hazardous and universal waste storage area
