Chevron - 3 - 12 March 2026
Surland Homes
Tracy, San Joaquin County
are less than the 2026 residential screening criteria, Arcadis will recommend moving
forward with Site closure. If soil vapor concentrations have not attenuated and remain
above residential screening criteria, Arcadis will evaluate the need for additional vapor
intrusion assessment.
Staff Comments
In an email dated 5 March 2026, regarding the decommissioning of soil vapor probe
SV-1 , Arcadis stated that "depending on what the results look like we may propose
another round of sampling i.e. one sample point from the wet season and one during
the dry season. Immediately following the investigation, the probe would remain in place
while we wait for data to determine if additional soil vapor evaluation is warranted."
Chevron needs to submit the soil and vapor analytical results from SV-1 for Staff
review, with an explanation if decommissioning of SV-1 is recommended.
Chevron needs to provide Staff with timely updates regarding property access
and scheduling of the Site work. The soil vapor assessment work needs to be
conducted in accordance with the Department of Toxic Substances Advisory—Active
Soil Gas Investigations July 2015 guidance document. The scope of work outlined in the
Work Plan appears to be appropriate with the comments noted above.
By 3 July 2026, please submit the Site assessment report.
If there are questions regarding this correspondence, lease contact Brian Hit? at 5,59)
q...... .,0 g p , p
445-5170 or by email at Brian.Hitz@waterboards.ca.gov.
Brian Hitz Shelton R.
