01 Sampling and Analysis Plan
Port of Stockton—Rail and Bridge,Stockton,CA
For example, a soil sample collected from a boring near station 25 at a depth interval of 2 to 3 ft will
be labeled as:
• 25-SO-2-3
A groundwater sample collected from a boring near station 18 at a depth of 15 ft will be labeled as:
• 18-GW-15
The sample ID for samples collected along the McCloy Class Yard will include the prefix"MCX,"where
"X" represents the boring number (1, 2, 3, etc.), followed by the medium sampled, followed by the
depth interval sampled in ft bgs.
For example, a soil sample collected from the second boring in the McCloy Class Yard at a depth
interval of 5 to 6 ft will be labeled as:
• MC2-SO-5-6
Soil and groundwater sample IDS are provided in Tables 2.1 and 2.2 and locations are provided in
Figures 2.1 to 2.4.
LBP and ACM sample IDS will include prefix "SE" followed by sample number (SE-01, SE-02, etc.)
LBP and ACM sample IDS and locations are provided in Table 2.3 and Figure 2.5.
IDW sample IDS will include the medium ("SO" for soil and "WA" for water) and the sample sequence
(IDW-SO-xx or IDW-WA-xx). The ID for trip blanks, field blanks, and rinsate blanks will consist of the
prefix"TB," "FB," or"RB" followed by the sample sequence (TB-x, FB-x, or RB-x), respectively.
3.3.2 Field Quality Control Samples
Trip, field, and rinsate blank samples will be collected for quality assurance (QA) and quality control
(QC). The QA/QC samples will be analyzed at the frequencies shown below.
• Trip blank: one for each shipping cooler containing soil or groundwater samples for VOC
and/or TPH-GRO analyses.
• Field blank: one per day. A field blank should only be collected if soils to be analyzed for
PFAS are collected on the same day.
• Rinsate blank: one per day for reusable soil or groundwater sampling equipment. The rinsate
blank should be collected in between borings where soils to be analyzed for PFAS are
collected. Otherwise, the rinsate blank should be collected after the completion of all borings
per day of sampling.
Additionally, the California state certified laboratory will follow appropriate laboratory QA/QC
procedures as dictated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) method and the
laboratory's SOPS.
4 Reporting
Following the completion of the field investigation and receipt of the analytical results, a Phase II ESA
Report (Report)will be prepared. The Report will include the following elements.
• Summary of field activities and deviations from this SAP, if any.
September 8,2023 1 6
