Port of Stockton Phase II ESA ��� <br /> Health and Safety Plan <br /> Emergency Response <br /> • Always leave the area immediately if it is unsafe <br /> • Call the emergency number for assistance <br /> • Secure the area and the mechanism of injury (shut down equipment, <br /> secure unstable structures) <br /> • Render first aid to extent of your training, experience and equipment <br /> • Arrange for transport of victim to the nearest medical facility according <br /> to the appropriate medical transport guidelines. If the victim's condition <br /> is life-threatening, or has the possibility of change during transport, 911 <br /> must be called and transport made by ambulance <br /> • For contact with non-water reactive chemicals, immediately take victim <br /> Medical Emergency to eyewash or emergency shower, and have person wash area until <br /> outside responders arrive, or a minimum of 15 minutes <br /> • For inhalation exposures, remove to fresh air <br /> • Identify the type and amount of hazardous material released if possible <br /> • Contact emergency responders and give necessary information <br /> • Prepare victim for transport to medical facility by decontamination, as <br /> necessary <br /> • Do not allow any person to eat or smoke until decontamination has <br /> taken place <br /> • Do not allow any person to re-enter an area affected by hazardous <br /> material <br /> • Notify co-workers, and commence evacuation as necessary <br /> • Ensure that the emergency number has been called <br /> • Attempt to extinguish fire if: <br /> Fire o The fire can be put out with one extinguisher, and <br /> o You can fight the fire with your back to an escape route or <br /> exit, and <br /> o The correct extinguisher is available, and <br /> o You possess the necessary training. <br /> • Secure your area <br /> • Move to a safe location within the building <br /> Severe Storm • Tune radio to weather station for local conditions <br /> • Be prepared to evacuate the area. Take only necessary items. <br /> 12.1 Fuel or Hazardous Material Spills <br /> Upon a release of a fuel or hazardous material, personnel should take precautions for personal <br /> safety, and if possible contain the spill with onsite equipment, to the extent that the responder's <br /> training capability allows. If necessary, the site emergency coordinator will evacuate all non- <br /> response personnel and visitors away from the spill area. Fuels or hazardous materials must be <br /> 12 <br />
