Name of spilled material, proximity to storm drains or equipment/electrical, <br />if available <br />•The Regional Manager will coordinate with the EHS Specialist to report any hazardous materials <br />emergencies to the appropriate outside agencies. <br />Do not hang up the phone when speaking with local emergency services/911. Expect pauses in the <br />conversation, and for the operator to ask additional questions. If you cannot safely continue speaking to <br />the operator, set the phone down but do not hang up. <br />9 Stabilize the Scene <br />Some emergencies can be stabilized by employees to either resolve the incident or mitigate the damage <br />of the event. Employees should only attempt to stabilize the scene of an emergency if they are trained to <br />do so and it is safe to do so. Otherwise, take protective action and call for help. <br />9.1 Fire Suppression <br />Small fires may be suppressed by quick and appropriate action. If you discover fire or smoke and the fire <br />is very small (the size of a wastebasket or smaller) take the following steps: <br />1.Activate the closest fire alarm and alert emergency services/call 911. <br />2.Alert others in the immediate danger area to evacuate the area <br />3.Confine the fire by closing doors as the area is evacuated <br />4.Attempt to put out the fire with a portable fire extinguisher ONLY when all of the following are <br />true: <br />a.You have been properly trained in fire extinguisher use <br />b.The fire is still the size of a wastebasket or smaller <br />c.You are not alone <br />d.A safe means of egress is available. Never put yourself in the line of a fire. <br />e.You have the appropriate fire extinguisher for the fire <br />5.If any of these conditions are not met, do not attempt to put out the fire. Evacuate the space <br />immediately. <br />6.Locations of fire extinguishers are marked on the emergency information map and should have <br />signs that designate their locations. <br />9.2 Medical Emergencies <br />All employees should be trained to recognize a medical emergency. A medical emergency is any actual <br />or potential injury or illness that cannot be remediated with a standard first aid kit. <br />9.2.1 Rendering Aid (First Aid) <br />Employees should only render aid to another individual within the level of their training and if appropriate <br />personal protective equipment (PPE) is available. If the emergency cannot be resolved with the contents <br />of a first aid kit, or if no employee is present with the qualified training to address the medical emergency, <br />call 911/local emergency services. <br />The first aid kit is located at: <br />If there is no first aid kit, this is how employees can access first aid supplies: <br />9.2.2 CPR and AED <br />Employees who are trained in CPR and have appropriate protective gear can provide CPR during <br />medical emergencies. Compression-only CPR may be performed by most bystanders or employees. CPR
