CPR Protective Gear is located at:
9.3 Spills
Small spills are not considered an emergency and are addressed using standard operating procedures.
Spills that pose a threat to life/safety, or that are more than 5 gallons, are considered emergencies and
should be addressed as follows:
•Notify local fire department if spill cannot be contained.
•Evacuate the area if spill cannot be contained.
•Account for evacuated personnel immediately after evacuation.
•Notify site management and EHS Specialist.
10 Evacuations
A wide variety of emergencies, both man-made and natural, may require a workplace to be evacuated.
An evacuation is the appropriate protective measure anytime the employees are safest when they move
outside away from the emergency or hazard. Examples may include facility fires, a hazardous chemical
spill inside the facility, or after an earthquake.
10.1 Before an Evacuation
All Tesla personnel must be familiar with emergency evacuation egress routes and exits for their
respective work areas. This must include both primary and secondary egress routes. Refer to facility’s
Emergency Map to view egress routes, areas of refuge, and exits. These maps are typically posted near
the doorways of each building area, as well as in meeting or training rooms, break rooms, and near
bathrooms.
All Tesla personnel (e.g. employees and Tesla contractors) must know the location of their assigned
Emergency Assembly Point. Refer to the Emergency Assembly Area brochures in Appendix A.
Site leaders are required to know which employees are present during any given shift. Following an
emergency, site leaders are responsible for verifying the well-being of all employees present at the time
of the emergency, as well as any visitors, contractors, etc.
Visitors to Tesla must be escorted at all times and are required to follow the instructions of their Tesla
sponsors when there is an emergency.
10.2 During an Evacuation
•After hearing an audible evacuation alarm / seeing a visual strobe, or receiving a verbal
evacuation order, safely stop all activity. Shut down equipment, if it safe to do so.
•If there are critical operations that requires employees to remain, they should only remain while it
is safe to do so.
•Remain calm, leave all belongings behind, and exit the building or work area through the nearest
emergency evacuation egress route.
•Walk to the exit, do not run. Minimize conversation and stay alert so instructions can be heard.
•Once safely outside, report to the assembly area and check in with your supervisor or manager.
•Site leaders account for all employees. Missing employees should be reported to 911 or to first
responders on-scene.
