EHS&S PROCEDURE
Document Code NA-SSD-EPR-PRO-5-300
Document Title Site Specific Emergency Action Plan for SSD

Uncontrolled when printed - Do not use before ensuring that this document is applicable and that this is the current version.

Proprietary and Confidential, Tesla, Inc. | 11
12.1 Before an Active Attacker Occurs
• All Tesla personnel must be familiar with active attacker procedures for their respective work
areas. Employees should take the Active Attacker training in Inside.Tesla at least annually.
• Employees should review their workspace frequently to identify escape routes and shelter or
barricade locations and supplies.
• Employees should be prepared to take visitors or customers with them during escape or shelter
and barricade actions.
12.2 During an Active Attack Event
• Tesla personnel must evaluate the emergency and choose the best protective action for their
unique circumstances. The most common protection strategies include Run, Hide, and Fight.
o Run- Move away from the sound of gunfire or the source of the emergency. Keep
buildings and sturdy objects between you and the source of danger. Move away until you
are safe and then contact local emergency personnel (call 911.)
o Hide- Seek shelter in a sturdy area in the location with few or no windows. Lock the
doors, close windows and blinds, turn off lights, and barricade the doors and windows.
Silence cellular phones. Take shelter away from the door and walls facing hallways and
plan to fight back if necessary.
o Fight – Fight back fiercely. Use objects and materials around you to separate the violent
actor from the weapon and subdue the attacker. If possible, fight back as a group and
attempt to overwhelm the attacker.
• Call 911, when you are in a safe location, and report the attack. Do not hang up with 911 until the
call taker releases you. If necessary, set the phone down but leave the line open.
• Render first aid to those around you if you have training and it is safe to do so.
• Remain in a safe location until instructed to move by law enforcement. Follow any instructions
issued by law enforcement.
• Once you are in a safe location away from the incident, notify the EMROC via phone call or email.
12.3 After an Active Attacker Event
• Do not return to the facility, or attempt to leave a safe shelter location, until instructed to do so by
law enforcement.
• Document everything you can remember about the event in writing to provide to law enforcement.
• Never speak to the media. Do not post about the event on social media.
• The EMROC will assist in accounting for personnel following an active attacker event and may
reach out to site managers and site leaders for assistance. If you know employees need help,
alert local first responders as soon as safely possible.
12.4 Safe Rooms and Lockdown Instructions
The safe room areas in this location are:
If there are no safe rooms for this location, leave blank. If a team needs assistance identifying safe room
areas for their facility, contact the regional security manager.
The lockdown instructions to secure a space are listed below:
