Vehicles are not adequate <br />shelter for high wind or tornado events. More resources for outdoor employees are available of <br />the Emergency Management Resource Hub. <br />• Close the business, including shutting and locking the doors if there is time. <br />• Move everyone currently in the location, including guests, visitors and customers, into the shelter <br />locations. <br />• In a weather event, ensure employees in the shelter location have access to a weather alert <br />broadcast to monitor for further instructions. <br />11.3 After a Shelter in Place <br />• Exit the shelter with extreme caution. Watch for debris, building damage, and dangerous <br />conditions created by the event. <br />• For a weather event, continue monitoring local weather alerts until the storms have completely <br />passed. Many large storm events can create multiple events that require shelter. <br />• Move to a safe location. It may be safer outdoors than indoors. <br />• Check on the wellbeing of people around you. Render first aid if necessary and contact local <br />emergency response for assistance if needed. <br />• Site leaders should account for all of their employees. Missing employees should be reported to <br />local first responders on-site at the emergency and to the EMROC for follow-up. <br />• Begin documenting damage. Take detailed notes and photographs of damage, but do not attempt <br />to begin clean-up operations. <br />11.4 Shelter in Place for Functional and Access Needs <br />Shelter locations should accommodate for individuals with functional or access needs. If the preferred <br />shelter location requires stairs to access, and appropriate access accommodations cannot be installed, <br />locate an alternate shelter location on the lowest accessible floor. <br />All Tesla personnel with disabilities should prepare for an emergency beforehand and be familiar with <br />their needs during a shelter scenario. They are encouraged to convey these needs to their supervisor by <br />instructing them on how to assist in the event of an emergency shelter action. They should be well-versed <br />on shelter locations and access methods. <br />Individuals with disabilities should NOT use elevators unless authorized to do so by police or fire <br />personnel. <br />11.5 Shelter Spaces <br />Shelter spaces provide safe areas for employees to wait until the shelter in place has lifted. Active attackers may be armed (such as with guns, knives, explosive devices, or <br />improvised weapons) or unarmed and may be threatening themselves or others. <br /> <br />
