To demonstrate the presence or absence of COCs beneath the Subject Property in connection with the
above-referenced REC, Trileaf proposes to collect three (3) soil samples, one (1)to a maximum depth of
15 feet below ground surface (bgs), and two (2) to a maximum of 5 feet bgs: one (1) located within the
center of the proposed lease area(15 feet bgs), one(1)located within the northern proposed utility route(5
feet bgs), and one(1)located within the southern proposed utility route(5 feet bgs;please see attached site
plan). Boring locations and depths may be altered due to field conditions and recovery.
Trileaf will also conduct a geophysical survey via Ground Penetrating Radar(GPR) to identify anomalies
indicative of current and / or former USTs on all areas proposed work is identified. If anomalies are
identified, boring locations may be moved to more closely align with the areas where suspected
contamination would be most concentrated.
Continuous soil sampling will be performed to a maximum depth of 15 feet bgs within one(1)boring and 5
feet within two (2)borings. Borings may be terminated earlier based upon field observations or equipment
limitations. The soils will be described and soils from the boring will be collected in two(2)-foot intervals,
placed in a clean sample container, allowed to equilibrate, and then analyzed for total organic vapor(TOV)
using an organic vapor meter equipped with a photoionization detector(OVM/PID).
The soil sample that exhibits either the highest TOV reading (>20 parts per million, ppm) above the
groundwater interface, represents the interval just above the soil-groundwater interface (vadose
zone), shows other field indications of contamination, or, if no field indications of contamination are
present and groundwater is not encountered, the interval representing the terminal boring depth, will be
placed in clean, glass sample jars provided by a certified laboratory. In the event that multiple distinct
layers of suspected contamination are encountered, Trileaf will contact Verizon Wireless to discuss the
possibility of obtaining additional soil samples from the boring.
The jars will be labeled, placed in a cooler with ice and delivered, under chain of custody, to a certified
laboratory for analysis. The soil samples from the borings will be analyzed for VOCs by US EPA method
8260,TPH GRO/DRO/ORO by US EPA method 8015,and Lead by US EPA method 6010. Subsequent to
sample collection, the boreholes will be abandoned in compliance with State requirements. Any remaining
soil cuttings will be thin-spread within the Subject Property, per State requirements. Trileaf is responsible
for restoration of the Subject Property once drilling event/soil borings are complete.
Subsequent to field activities and receipt of laboratory analysis, Trileaf will evaluate the data collected
and prepare a Phase II ESA report summarizing results of the work outlined in this proposal with
recommendations of any further action that should be taken.
