The field duplicates will be analyzed for the same parameters as the associated <br /> samples to measure the variability inherent in the sampling process. Field duplicate samples will <br /> be collected from a specific sample location. Generally,this location is preferred to be one that is <br /> anticipated to have the highest chemical impacts among the sampling locations. <br /> Duplicate samples collected from the location to be replicated will be split evenly into two sample <br /> containers and submitted for analysis as two independent samples: the original and the duplicate. <br /> Field duplicates will be compared to a precision goal of 30 percent RPD if both sample results are <br /> greater than 5 times the reporting limit. <br /> 4.5.2 Field Blank Samples <br /> Blank samples provide a measure of cross-contamination sources, decontamination efficiency, <br /> and other potential errors that can be introduced from sources other than the sample. The blanks <br /> will be preserved, transported, documented, and handled as if they are normal samples. <br /> 4.5.3 Trip Blank Samples <br /> Forthis project,trip blank samples will consist of laboratory-provided, volatile organic analysis <br /> bottles pre-filled with analyte free deionized water. The blank samples will remain in the sample <br /> cooler provided by the laboratory, and packed and transported to the laboratory with the <br /> investigation samples. Each sample shipment will contain one blank sample for VOC analysis. Tdp <br /> blanks will be analyzed for VOCs by USEPA Method 8260B. <br /> 4.6 Surveying <br /> Following completion of fieldwork, the horizontal and vertical locations of soil borings will be <br /> collected in the field utilizing a hand held GPS unit. <br /> 4.7 Equipment Decontamination <br /> All non-disposable drilling tooling and sampling equipment(e.g., field instruments that come into <br /> contact with sample media [water quality meters], drilling rods, non-disposable bailers, hand <br /> trowels, etc.)will be decontaminated before and after each use. Equipment decontamination <br /> procedures will include the following (in order of performance): <br /> ■ Alconox (or equivalent) and distilled water solution wash <br /> ■ Distilled-water rinse <br /> Disposable drilling and sampling equipment will be disposed as municipal waste. <br /> 4.8 Equipment Calibration and Maintenance <br /> Field instruments used during fieldwork, including PIDs and water parameter meters, will be <br /> operated, maintained, and calibrated in accordance with manufacturer Standard Operating <br /> Procedures. Field calibration results will be recorded on field forms and maintained with the project <br /> files. <br />
