Materials and Wastes Handling / Emergency Response Plan
rN Facility Name: J.B. Hunt Transport
rN
Facility Address: 2660/2710 Loomis Road, Stockton, CA 95205
Section 1: Storage and Handling of Hazardous Materials
1. Hazardous materials are typically stored in their original containers. The containers are
labeled with the contents clearly identified. If materials are transferred into other
containers, the receiving container will be labeled.
2. Containers should be labeled using the Hazardous Materials Information System (HMIS).
Hazardous materials are ordered and stored on site in such amounts to minimize, as much
as practical, the amounts on site at any one time.
4. Hazardous materials are stored so as to prevent damage to the containers from vehicle
traffic, equipment, etc.
Container lids are secured to prevent spillage or contamination by rainwater.
6. Compressed (i.e. welding) gases are stored in an upright position and properly secured/
chained. The shipping bonnet should remain in place until ready for use. Empty and full
cylinders are separated and labeled accordingly ("FULL" and "EMPTY").
7. Current copies of Material Safety Data Sheets are maintained on the J.B. Hunt computer
network and are available for reference by employees and used during an emergency.
Section 2: Storage and Handling of Hazardous Wastes
Waste Oil:
Waste oil (motor oils and other lubricating fluids) are collected from vehicles into
drainage caddies. The drainage caddies are equipped with hose connections. Waste oil is
transferred from the drainage caddies via hose/pneumatic pump/overhead piping to an
aboveground storage tank. The aboveground storage tank is located in the covered and
bermed outdoor storage area along 2710 Shop's east wall. Waste oil is stored to prevent
spilling or spreading. Aboveground storage tanks and drums/containers must be labeled
"USED OIL", "HAZARDOUS WASTE", name and address of the generator, and the
initial date of accumulation. Also include "Ignitable Liquid". Tanks/drums/containers
must be at least 50 feet from the facility's property line. Drums/containers must be
inspected weekly. Tanks must be inspected daily. Waste oil is stored on site for less
than 90 days prior to removal by a qualified recycling contractor (noted in Section 5).
J.B.
