r <br /> % <br /> C0� <br /> r <br /> r i <br /> gtjiatii Incorporated <br /> July 7, 1999 <br /> Project No 7G600-019-04 <br /> Ms Lori Duncan <br /> San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department <br /> 304 East Weber Avenue <br /> Stockton, Califoriva <br /> Re Soil Sampling during UST and Product Line Replacement Activities <br /> ARCO Station #2133 <br /> 2908 Benjamin Holt Drive <br /> Stockton, California <br /> Dear Ms Duncan <br /> SECOR International Incorporated (SECOR) has prepared this letter on behalf of ARCO <br /> Products Company (ARCO) to document the excavation and removal of one <br /> underground fuel storage tank (UST) and associated product lines and dispensers at the <br /> site referenced above (Figures 1 through 3) This work was performed as described in <br /> SECOR's Work Plan for Soil Sampling during Product Line Upgrades, dated February <br /> 18, 1999 <br /> SITE BACKGROUND <br /> The site is located at the intersection of Interstate 5 and Benjamin Holt Drive in a~ <br /> commercial and residential part of Stockton, California (Figure 1) The site is an <br /> operating service station with an AM/PM mini-mart that retails gasoline fuel Four <br /> underground storage tanks (USTs) and associated product lines and dispensers are <br /> present at the site Since discovery of a piping leak in 1984, 20 groundwater monitoring <br /> wells, 14 soil vapor extraction wells, and nine air-sparge wells have been installed at the <br /> site A groundwater extraction system was operated intermittently from 1984 to 1996 <br /> In 1995, a SVE/AS system was installed at the site To date, the SVE system has <br /> removed 3,980 pounds of TPH-g from the soil and groundwater beneath the site <br /> In 1998, during the installation of a pay quick machine, a contractor at the site broke a <br /> fiberglass product line beneath the southern dispenser island The broken line was <br /> repaired immediately and approximately 3 cubic yards of soil was excavated from <br /> beneath the broken product line Soil samples collected after the excavation of the soil <br /> contained low levels of petroleum hydrocarbons <br /> 9912 B71sIj1css Yank l)rrue Sirate 100, Sacrwnento CA 95827 (916)364-18SO (9160364-1889 1 uv uuvuV secop coria <br />
