SMTH <br /> ENVIRON IENTALTECHNOLOGIE5CORPQRATION <br /> i <br /> I <br /> July 30, 1996 <br /> 94334 <br /> Ms Mary Meays <br /> San Joaquin County Public Health Services <br /> Environmental Health Division <br /> P O Box 388 <br /> Stockton, California 95201 <br /> Subject Workplan for Additional Subsurface Investigation at KOK Realty, 2403 West <br /> Navy Drive, Stockton, California <br /> Dear Ms Meays <br /> Smith Environmental Technologies Corporation, on behalf of KOK Realty, has prepared this <br /> ' r document to serve as a workplan for additional subsurface investigation at the above referenced site <br /> (Figure 1) This workplan has been prepared in response to correspondence from the San Joaquin <br /> County Public Health Services (PHS/EHD) dated July 10, 1996 The purpose of the proposed work is <br /> to define the extent of residual soil contamination at the above referenced site <br /> SITE HISTORY <br /> The site was the location of one underground storage tank In response to a PHS/EHD request <br /> for a subsurface investigation, RESNA Industries, Inc (RESNA) was engaged by the law firm of <br /> McDermott, Will & Emery to assess the nature and extent of soil and groundwater contamination <br /> at the site <br /> In early 1992, a RESNA field geologist observed the drilling of three soil borings (MW1, MW2, <br /> and MW3) at the site to characterize subsurface conditions Groundwater was encountered at a <br /> depth of approximately 15-16 feet below ground surface (bgs) The borings were advanced to a <br /> depth of approximately 30 feet bgs and subsequently converted to groundwater monitoring wells <br /> Laboratory analysis of soil samples collected from the three borings determined that petroleum <br /> hydrocarbon constituents were detected in the soil within 4-5 feet of the static water levels at the <br /> site Laboratory analysis of groundwater samples collected from the wells subsequent to <br /> development indicated that gasoline constituents were present above laboratory method detection <br /> limits in the groundwater samples collected from each site monitoring well Initial groundwater <br /> monitoring data (March 1992) determined groundwater flow direction to the south A detailed <br /> w 1943341wp-0796 doc 1 <br /> 1260 Graphics Dave Modesto,CA 95351-1502 (209)579-2221 Fax(209)579-2225 <br /> Engineering Consulting Remediation Construction <br />
