Ms. Amy Terrell
20 August 2007
Page 6
Investigation-Derived Waste
Clean downhole equipment will be used at the two drilling locations. Soil cuttings,
decontamination water, and purge water will be placed in labeled 55-gallon drums and
temporarily stored on wooden pallets at the Site pending analysis. Once analytical results have
been received, the drums will be appropriately disposed.
Surveying
Following installation of the monitoring wells, the north side of the top of well casing without
the cap and ground surface elevations will be surveyed for both wells by a California-licensed
Professional Land Surveyor. Additionally, the 4 corners of the test plots located at the northern
portion of the Site and at Welty Road will be marked (e.g. feather, stakes) and surveyed.
Injection locations at Welty Road will be confirmed by the surveyor to be in the road right-of-
way and not overlapping any adjacent private property. Surveying data will be provided as an
electronic deliverable containing both geodetic and local state plane coordinate system
coordinates.
Injections
Two test plots are proposed, one near the previous pilot test location at the northern portion of
the Site and one near MW-5 at Welty Road (Figure 2). Each test plot would consist of two rows
spaced 10 feet apart and consisting of 21 injections of HRC-X®. Injections within each row will
be spaced 5 feet apart. Injections will be advanced by a California-licensed driller using a
Geoprobe® 6600 direct-push rig to depths ranging from 24 to 48 ft bgs with 4 pounds of HRC-
X® injected per lineal foot.
To reduce viscosity of the HRC-X® during injection, a hot tank will be used to heat the HRC-X®
before injection. The HRC-X® will be pumped through Geoprobe rods using a grout pump
capable of pumping at pressures ranging from 200 psi to 1,500 psi. A cement grout will be used
to seal the injection points from the top of the HRC-X® injection depth up to ground surface.
Injection instructions recommended by Regenesis are included as an attachment to this Work
Plan.
P:\PRJ2003REM\WFS\VER\VERF12007 Expanded Pilot Work Plan\Expanded_Pilot Test WP.doc
engineers I scientists I innovators
