HAZARD MITIGATORS — KNIVES/BLADES <br /> Applies to Task: M O M O ❑O ❑ ® ❑ O 118 ❑ O ❑ <br /> • Always wear proper protective equipment. This should include: <br /> - heavy-duty leather gloves, <br /> - steel-toed boots with non-slip soles, and <br /> - hardhat and eye protection. <br /> • Check the work: area and make sure that: <br /> - the ground is free of obstacles such as rocks, stumps, holes, and wet or otherwise <br /> slippery conditions. <br /> -you can get a firm footing on the ground. <br /> • Route cords, hoses, and cables supplying power to portable power tools to prevent <br /> tripping hazards. <br /> • Protect tools from corrosion damage. <br /> • Keep tools free of accumulated dirt and unnecessary oil or grease. <br /> • Worn, damaged or dull blades should be sharpened or replaced as necessary. <br /> Knives—HazMit.doc Page 1 of 1 8/3/2007 <br />
