Equipment for <br /> this operation shall be on the job site or available at all times. <br /> In the event that the above requirements are violated and no action is taken by the Contractor <br /> after notification of infraction by the Engineer, the City reserves the right to have the streets in <br /> question cleaned by others and the expense of the operation charged to the Contractor. <br /> C. Temporary Dams — <br /> Except in time of emergency, earth dams are not acceptable at catch basin openings, local <br /> depressions, or elsewhere. Temporary dams of sand bags, asphaltic concrete, or other <br /> acceptable material will be permitted when necessary to protect the work, provided their use <br /> does not create a hazard or nuisance to the public. Such dams shall be removed from the site <br /> as soon as they are no longer necessary. _ <br /> D. Air Pollution Control <br /> The Contractor shall be required to reduce particulate emissions by complying with the San <br /> Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District requirements as contained in "Fugitive Dust Control <br /> at Construction Sites". In addition, Contractor shall provide the following measures: <br /> Enclose, cover, or water all soil piles as needed to maintain dampness and prevent visible dust <br /> emissions. The amount of watering may depend upon temperature, humidity, and wind speed <br /> for any given day. Alternatively, a higher degree of emission reduction can be achieved through <br /> installation of sprinklers on all soil piles.
