5. Maintain stability of sides and bottoms of excavations. <br /> C. Provide measures to avoid adverse impacts to adjacent properties, buildings, <br /> structures, utilities and other work as required. <br /> D. Groundwater control systems may include single-stage or multiple-stage well <br /> point systems, eductor and ejector-type systems, deep wells, or combinations of <br /> these equipment types. <br /> E. Groundwater control and drainage systems shall be located so as not to interfere <br /> with utilities, construction operations, adjacent properties, or adjacent water <br /> wells. <br /> F. Contractor shall assume sole responsibility for groundwater control systems and <br /> for any loss or damage resulting from partial or complete failure of protective <br /> measures and any settlement or resultant damage caused by the groundwater <br /> control operations. Groundwater control systems or operations shall be modified <br /> if they cause or threaten to cause damage to new construction, existing site <br /> improvements, adjacent property, or adjacent water wells. Contractor shall repair <br /> damage caused by groundwater control systems resulting from failure of the <br /> system to protect property as required. <br /> G. Contractor shall ensure that no groundwater be placed or be allowed to flow onto <br /> Caltrans right-of-way. <br /> H. Groundwater shall be treated onsite to remove any settleable solids and allow <br /> periodic: testing by the Contractor, as required by applicable regulations. <br /> Contractor shall provide tanks required for treatment. <br /> 1.05 SUBMITTALS <br /> A. Submittals shall be provided in accordance with Section 01300 and shall include <br /> the following: <br /> B. Copies of all permit applications, notices of intent and other submittals to <br /> regulatory agencies. <br /> C. A Groundwater and Surface Water Control Plan for review by the Engineer prior <br /> to start of any field work. The Plan shall be signed by a Professional Engineer <br /> registered in the State of California and shall include the following: <br /> 1. Results of subsurface investigation and description of the extent and <br /> characteristics of water bearing layers subject to groundwater control. <br /> 2. Names of equipment suppliers and installation subcontractors. <br /> 3. A description of proposed groundwater control systems indicating <br /> arrangement, location, depth and capacities of system components, <br /> installation details and criteria, and operation and maintenance <br /> procedures. <br /> July 2007 Division III-50 NEI Phase II Water and Sewer <br /> CIP Nos. 7468, 7589, 7590 <br />
