B. Paint Properties, Mixing, and Thinning <br /> Paint, when applied, shall provide a satisfactory film and smooth even surface, and <br /> glossy undercoats shall be lightly sanded to provide a surface suitable for the proper <br /> application and adhesion of subsequent coats. Paints <br /> licat o shall <br /> be th gsueonsisting hly stirred, <br /> strained, and kept at a uniform consistency during app <br /> of <br /> two or more components shall be mixed in accordance withmanufacturer <br /> weather <br /> instructions. Where necessary to suit the conditions of the surface, temperature, <br /> and method of application, the paint may be thinned immediately prior to use by the <br /> addition of not more than one pint per gallon of the proper hinnor . Bins theherwise <br /> specified, paint shall not be reduced more than necessary the cortin <br /> application characteristics. Thinner shall be as recommended by 9 <br /> manufacturer. <br /> C. Environmental Conditions - <br /> Paints shall be applied only to surfaces that are dry, and only under such atmospheric <br /> conditions as will cause evaporation orsurfacesnupo condensation.wh ch there faostnot <br /> ob moisture — <br /> e applied <br /> during rainy, misty weather, or <br /> condensation. During damp weather, when the temperature of the surface to be coated <br /> re <br /> is within 10°F thereon. Bare me the dew point, <br /> tal surfaces, except those which may be warped by heat, <br /> condensation therat <br /> may be dehydrated by flame-heating devices immediately prior to paint application. <br /> During painting, and for a period of at least 8 hours after the paint has been applied, the <br /> temperature of the surfaces to be painted,50 F anded not less O, andtFeabovesphe dew <br /> here in <br /> contact shall be maintained at or above <br /> point. Paint, when applied, shall be approximately the same temperature as that of the <br /> surface on which it is applied. Fans or heaters shall be used inside enclosed areas <br /> where conditions causing condensation are severe. <br /> Paint shall not be applied on surfaces hotter than 110°F. <br /> D. Protection of Coated Surfaces <br /> Items which have been coated shall not bedelivery worked <br /> on, or of peerwisente disturbted, <br /> until the paint is completely dry and hard.
