2.13 CABLE SPLICING MATERIALS - <br /> A. Buried Connection Cleaning & Coating: All buried connections shall be cleaned <br /> and coated with an electrical joint inhibitor compound such as Sanchem's NO- _ <br /> OX-ID or equal <br /> B. Insulation of Splices: Buried splices shall be sealed with an inner wrap of rubber <br /> splicing tape such as Scotch 130C or equal and an outer wrap of PVC tape such <br /> as Scotch 33+ or equal. <br /> C. Sealing of Insulated Splices: The insulated splices shall be sealed with a water -- <br /> proof wrap such as Cooper Power Systems "Aqua Seal" or equal. <br /> 2.14 INSULATING BLANKET <br /> A. Insulating blanket shall be 1/8-inch thick sheet of butyl rubber, PVC, HDPE, <br /> Micarta or Neoprene. — <br /> 2.15 INSULATING JOINTS <br /> A. Insulating Flanges <br /> Insulating flanges shall be installed to electrically isolate the water pipeline from existing <br /> pipelines. Each insulating flange set shall consist of a full-face central gasket, a full- <br /> length sleeve for each flange bolt, and two insulating washers with two steel washers for <br /> each bolt. The ring-type central gasket shall be 1/8-inch thick sheet packing, having a <br /> dielectric constant of 300 volts per mil, minimum. Bolt sleeves shall be fabric reinforced <br /> phenolic resin or mylar, and insulating washers shall be constructed of fabric reinforced <br /> phenolic resin. The complete assembly shall have an ANSI pressure rating equal to that <br /> of the flanges between which it is installed. <br /> B. Insulating Flanged Coupling Adapters <br /> Insulating elements shall be installed to electrically isolate the water pipeline from - <br /> existing pipelines. The insulating elements shall consist of a full-face central gasket, two <br /> sleeves for each end of the flange bolt, and two insulating washers with two steel <br /> washers for each bolt. The ring-type central gasket shall be 1/8-inch thick sheet - <br /> packing, having a dielectric constant of 300 volts per mil, minimum. Bolt sleeves shall <br /> be fabric reinforced phenolic resin or mylar, and insulating washers shall be constructed <br /> of fabric reinforced phenolic resin.
