125 Ib ANSI B16.1 standards. Grooved ends shall be the flexible radius <br /> type. <br /> 2. Pipe Type A-2, Buried Pipe <br /> All joints on ductile iron pipe installed below ground shall be push-on joints. <br /> Where shown on plans restrained push-on joints shall be installed. <br /> Restrained joints shall be rated for a water working pressure of not less <br /> than 350 psi with a minimum of 2:1 safety factor. Restrained joints shall be <br /> one of the following types: <br /> a. Welded-On Retainer Ring: Type Single gasket push-on type joint <br /> meeting applicable requirements of ANSI/AWWA C111/A21.11, <br /> with restraint provided by a welded-on retainer ring. Joints shall be <br /> U.S. Pipe TR Flex, American Lok-Ring, Clow Super-Lock, or <br /> equal. <br /> ID. Mechanical Joints with Joint Restraint: Joint restraint shall consist <br /> of a follower gland with individually actuated wedges that increase <br /> their resistance to pull-out as pressure or external forces increase. <br /> The restraint shall be Series 1100 MEGALUG restraint as <br /> produced by EBAA Iron, Inc. or approved equal. <br /> D. Lining and Coating <br /> Unless specified otherwise, all ductile iron water pipe and fittings shall have a standard <br /> cement mortar lining seal coated with asphaltic material in accordance with AWWA <br /> C104 (ANSI A21.4I. Exterior of buried pipe shall be coated with standard bituminous <br /> coating. Exterior of exposed pipe shall be painted in accordance with Section 09900 <br /> Coating Systems. <br /> Ductile iron pipe and fittings in the MacArthur Pump Station wet well and valve vault <br /> shall be lined with ceramic epoxy, Protecto 401 or equal, to a dry film thickness of <br /> 40 mils. Ductile iron pipe at MacArthur Pump Station shall be coated with two coats of <br /> Tnemec V69 or equal, each coat shall have a minimum dry film thickness of 8 mils. <br /> E. Polyethylene. Encasement <br /> The surfaces of all buried ductile iron water pipe and fittings shall be double encased <br /> with two sheets of 8-mil minimum thickness polyethylene to form a continuous and all- <br /> encompassing double layer of polyethylene between the piping and surrounding earth or <br /> backfill material. Polyethylene material shall conform to the requirements of <br /> ANSI/AWWA C105/A21.5-99. Material shall be 8 mil, linear low density polyethylene <br /> (LLDPE) and shall be marked at two foot intervals with manufacturer's name, year of <br /> manufacture, AWWA C105, film thickness and material, pipe size, and repair warning. <br /> All polyethylene shall be secured in place with 10-mil polyethylene tape. Installation shall <br /> conform to Method A requirements of ANSI/AWWA C105/A21.5. Excess slack width in <br /> the polyethylene tube shall be taken up to make a snug, but not a tight fit, around the <br /> pipe barrel and secured with adhesive tape in a fold on the top of each pipe length at the <br /> quarter points. Any rips, punctures or other damage to the polyethylene sleeve shall be <br /> repaired with adhesive tape or a short length of polyethylene tube cut open, wrapped <br /> around the pipe and secured in place. <br /> July 2007 Division III-150 NEI Phase II Water and Sewer <br /> CIP Nos. 7468, 7589, 7590 <br />
