F Bolts, Nuts, Washers, and Gaskets <br /> Bolts and nuts for exposed flanges and fittings shall be high strength low alloy carbon <br /> steel hex bolts, as specified in AWWA C115 and C606. Bolts and nuts for buried flanges <br /> and fittings shall be stainless steel. <br /> Gaskets for flanged joints shall be 1/16 in. thick (1/8 in. thick for pipes 12 in. and larger), <br /> cloth inserted rubber conforming to applicable parts of ANSI B16.12 and AWWA C115 <br /> and C207. Gasket material shall be free from corrosive alkali or acid ingredients and <br /> suitable for use in potable water lines. Gaskets shall be one piece, full face, with holes to <br /> pass bolts. <br /> Gaskets for push-on joints shall be oil resistant rubber, conforming to AWWA C111. <br /> G. Lubricant for push-on joint piping shall be the pipe manufacturer's standard. <br /> 2.04 STEEL PIPE <br /> A. Pipe <br /> Steel pipe shall be spiral or straight seam manufactured and furnished in accordance <br /> with AWWA C200. All materials, fabrication and shop testing of steel pipe and steel pipe <br /> fabrications shall conform to the requirements of ANSI/AWWA C200. All dimensions <br /> shall conform to ANSI/AWWA C208. The minimum thickness of plate for pipe from which <br /> fabrications are made shall be '/4-inch. Steel for AWWA C200 pipe shall conform to the <br /> requirements of ASTM A36; ASTM A572, Grade 42; ASTM A570, Grades 33 and 36; or — <br /> ASTM A283, Grade D. <br /> Minimum wall thickness of steel pipe shall be as presented in the table below. <br /> Sizes Thickness <br /> 8" and smaller Schedule 40 unless otherwise noted <br /> 10" to 24"7 0.25" unless otherwise noted <br /> 30" 0.31" unless otherwise noted -- <br /> B. Joints — <br /> Joints for steel pipe shall be welded steel. Provide flexible couplings with restrained <br /> harnesses, flanged, grooved end, or welded butt straps as shown.
