Conductors shall be cabled in bundles, by phase, and identified by phase with <br /> permanent labels in the controller cabinet and at terminal pull boxes. <br /> C. Multiple lighting conductors, signal light grounded conductors, and bonding <br /> conductors only, may be spliced. <br /> D. "C" shaped compression connectors shall be used. <br /> E. Insulation shall be THW rated, and shall comply with Section 86-2.08B of the <br /> State Stancards. <br /> PART 3 - EXECUTION <br /> 3.01 MAINTAINING EXISTING ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS <br /> A. Contractor must request in writing the Engineer's approval 72 hours prior to <br /> working within area of any signal system. <br /> B. Electrician ,experienced in traffic control repairs and temporary traffic control <br /> signs shall be onsite at all times when work is being conducted within vicinity of <br /> signalized intersection and traffic loops. <br /> C. Signals damaged by Contractor's operation shall be repaired immediately. <br /> D. The Contractor shall place "Stop Ahead" and "Stop" signs to direct vehicle and <br /> pedestrian traffic through the intersection during traffic signal system repairs. <br /> Temporary "Stop Ahead" and "Stop" signs shall be either covered or removed <br /> after the system is repaired. <br /> E. One "STOP AHEAD" sign and one "STOP" sign shall be placed for each <br /> direction of traffic. For two-lane approaches, two "STOP" signs shall be placed. <br /> F. "Stop Ahead" and "Stop" signs shall be furnished by the Contractor and shall <br /> conform to the provisions in Section 12-3.06, "Construction Area Signs," of the <br /> State Standard Specifications. <br /> 3.02 SIGNAL SYSTEM SHUTDOWN PENALTY <br /> A. It is agreed by the parties to the contract that in case signal system shutdowns <br /> occur, damage will be sustained by the City and County, and that it will be <br /> impracticable to determine the actual damage which the City or County will <br /> sustain, it is therefore agreed that the Contractor shall pay to the City the sum of <br /> One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) per every hour or part thereof of signal system <br /> shutdown. The Contractor agrees to pay such liquidated damages as herein <br /> provided, and in case the same are not paid, agrees that the City may deduct the <br /> amount thereof from any money due the Contractor under the contract. <br /> July 2007 Division III-170 NEI Phase II Water and Sewer <br /> CIP Nos. 7468, 7589, 7590 <br />
