PART 2 - MATERIALS <br /> 2.01 QUALITY <br /> A. It is the intent of the Contract specifications and drawings to secure the highest <br /> quality in all materials and equipment in order to facilitate operation and maintenance <br /> of the facility. All equipment and materials shall be new and the products of — <br /> reputable suppliers having adequate experience in the manufacture of these <br /> particular items. For uniformity, only one manufacturer will be accepted for each <br /> type of product. <br /> B. All equipment shall be designed for the service intended and shall be of rugged <br /> construction, of ample strength for all stresses which may occur during fabrication, <br /> transportation, erection, and continuous or intermittent operation. All equipment — <br /> shall be adequately stayed and braced and anchored and shall be installed in a neat <br /> and workmanlike manner. Appearance and safety, as well as utility, shall be given <br /> consideration in the design of details. All components and devices installed shall be <br /> standard items of industrial grade, unless otherwise noted, and shall be of sturdy and <br /> durable construction suitable for long, trouble free service. Light duty, fragile and <br /> competitive grade devices of doubtful durability shall not be used. _ <br /> C. Products that are specified by manufacturer, trade name or catalog number <br /> established a standard of quality and do not prohibit the use of equal products of <br /> other manufacturers provided they are favorably reviewed by the Engineer prior to <br /> installation. <br /> D. Underwriters Laboratories (UL)listing is required for all substituted equipment when <br /> such a listing is available for the first named equipment. <br /> E. When required by the Contract specifications or requested by the Engineer, the <br /> Contractor shall submit equipment or material samples for test or evaluation. The <br /> samples shall be furnished with information as to their source and prepared in such <br /> quantities and sizes as may be required for proper examination and tests, with all <br /> freight and charges prepaid. All samples shall be submitted before shipment of the — <br /> equipment or material to the job site and in ample time to permit the making of <br /> proper tests, analyses, examinations, rejections, and resubmissions before <br /> incorporated into the work. — <br /> F. All equipment shall be designed and constructed so that in the event of a power <br /> interruption, the equipment specified hereunder shall resume normal operation <br /> without manual resetting or operator interaction when power is restored. <br /> G. Signal transmission from remote or field electric and electronic devices shall be 4-20 <br /> mA, sourced by a 24 VDC loop supply from the panel that is to receive the signal. <br /> Nonstandard transmission methods such as impulse duration, pulse rate, and <br /> voltage regulated will not be permitted except where specifically noted. <br /> H. Outputs of equipment that are not of the standard signals as outlined, shall have the _ <br /> output immediately raised and/or converted to compatible standard signals for <br /> remote transmission. <br /> 2.02 NAMEPLATES AND TAGS - <br /> A. Equipment Exterior Nameplates: Nameplate material shall be rigid laminated black <br /> phenolic with beveled edges and white lettering, except for caution, warning, and <br /> danger nameplates the color shall be red with white lettering.
