SECTION 25 - PROJECT SITE SAFETY <br /> Safety of open trenches and other construction work is the Contractor's responsibility. The <br /> Contractor's attention is directed to the location of the project site, which may lay Ile within lI IC <br /> vicinity of residential areas, commercial areas, and schools. The Contractor shall provide and <br /> erect proper signs, barricades, and fences as directed by the Engineer to safely secure the <br /> construction area. The Superintendent will be available on-site during construction. Contractor <br /> shall provide the Superintendent's telephone number to the Engineer and assure that the <br /> Superintendent will be available during any emergencies or after construction hours. <br /> The maximum length of trench shall be 200 feet or the distance that pipe can be installed in a <br /> single day.;Trenches shall be backfilled and covered with temporary pavement (in paved <br /> areas) at the end of each workday. <br /> SECTION 26 — DUST NOISE AND WATER POLLUTION CONTROL <br /> The Contractor's attention is directed to Section 7.09, "Project Site Maintenance" of the City of <br /> Tracy Standard Specifications for compliance with the City's dust control requirements. _ <br /> At all times during construction, including weekends and holidays, and until final completion and <br /> acceptance of the work, the contractor shall comply with the City's Dust Control Ordinance and _ <br /> prevent the formation of an airborne dust nuisance by watering as required by the Engineer, <br /> and to treat the site of the work in such a manner that it will confine dust particles to the <br /> immediate surface of the work. The Contractor shall perform such treatment immediately <br /> during the construction contract and within one (1) hour after notification by the Engineer that _ <br /> the airborne nuisance exists. If the Contractor fails to remove the nuisance within the above <br /> time frame, the City may order that the treatment of the site be done by City equipment and <br /> personnel or by others. All expenses incurred in the performance of this treatment shall be <br /> charged to the Contractor. The cost shall be paid for by the Contractor separately or be <br /> deducted from the periodic payments to the Contractor as the City incurs such costs. <br /> All hauling trucks or other construction vehicles leaving the site shall be cleaned of mud or dirt <br /> clinging to exterior body surfaces or wheel rims before traveling on City streets outside the work <br /> limits. All trucks coming to or leaving the site with materials or loose debris shall be loaded in a <br /> manner, which will prevent dropping of materials or debris on City streets. Spillage resulting from <br /> hauling operations along or across any public traveled way shall be removed immediately at the <br /> Contractor's expense. _ <br /> Contractor shall provide an approved water truck of large capacity with spraying capability, as <br /> required or as directed by the Engineer. The water truck shall spray water on excavated areas, <br /> dirt, asphalt grindings, etc., within the project site and storage area. <br /> The Contractor shall make every reasonable effort to control noise generated as a result of <br /> construction to the satisfaction of the Engineer. Use of air compressor, jackhammer and other _ <br /> vibrating and loud sound generating equipment shall be limited to between the hours of 7:30 <br /> a.m. and 4:30 p.m. unless otherwise authorized by the Engineer. <br /> y the <br /> Contractor shall provide mechanical <br /> follow BMP's for storm waterequired or as directed b <br /> Engineer.
