SECTION 27 - DISPOSAL OF MATERIAL <br /> Disposal of materials shall conform to the provision of Section 300.02, "Disposal of Materials" of <br /> the Standard Specifications. <br /> Unless otherwise shown on the plans or specified herein, all excess materials and materials <br /> removed from existing improvements shall become the property of, and disposed by the <br /> Contractor. The Contractor shall be responsible for all costs associated with disposing all <br /> excess materials in a safe and legal manner. No material shall be placed on private or public <br /> property without prior approval from the City and the property owner. The Contractor shall not <br /> allow any refuse, excavated material, surplus concrete or mortar, or any associated washings, <br /> to be disposed upon paved streets, into manholes or into the City's storm drain system. <br /> All materials removed from the existing improvements, which in the opinion of the Engineer <br /> have salvage value, shall be delivered to the City Corporation Yard at 520 Tracy Boulevard or <br /> at any other designated site within the City, at no additional cost to the City. <br /> SECTION 28 - CONSTRUCTION WATER <br /> Construction water is available at no cost to the Contractor. The Contractor is responsible for <br /> obtaining the required permit from the City and providing an approved water truck, installed with <br /> backflow prevention devices prior to obtaining any construction water from City hydrants. <br /> SECTION 29 -WATER AND SEWER SHUTDOWN <br /> Shut down of water or sewer services shall be done only after the Contractor has coordinated <br /> the shut down with the Engineer and the property owners. When a water main, sewer main, or <br /> service lateral is to be shut down, the Contractor shall coordinate and notify the Engineer in <br /> writing, at least seventy-two (72) hours in advance of the shut down. Contractor must coordinate <br /> with the effected parties and notify in writing twenty-four (24) hours and in person two (2) hours in <br /> advance of the shut down. Contractor shall proceed with the work in an expedient manner until <br /> the water lines or sewer lines are back in service. Contractor shall coordinate and work with the <br /> requirements of the City's Public Works Maintenance Department for exercising and shutting off <br /> water valves on the main lines for planned shut offs. <br /> The Contractor at his own cost shall immediately repair any sewer line broken during construction. <br /> The Contractor shall provide temporary bypass of sewers and shall be responsible to maintain <br /> sewer service at all times throughout the duration of the project. <br /> The Contractor shall schedule and coordinate all and any approved shutting down of the existing <br /> water main and sewer main with the City of Tracy Utility Division, the shut down shall be held to a <br /> minimum and the Contractor shall have all materials required for the work at the job site prior to <br /> requesting the shut down of the existing water main and sewer main. <br /> July 2007 Division II - 12 NEI Phase II Water and Sewer <br /> CIP Nos. 7468, 7589, 7590 <br />
