SECTION 30 - CONSTRUCTION STAKING <br /> All construction surveying and staking shall be the Contractor's responsibility in accordance <br /> With Section 2.14 of the Standard Specifications, as shown on the contract documents and as <br /> directed by the Engineer. <br /> Stakes or marks will be set by a California Licensed Surveyor or a California Registered Civil _ <br /> Engineer to establish the lines and grades required for the completion of the work as specified <br /> in the contract documents. It shall be the Contractor's responsibility to notify the Engineer of <br /> any discrepancies found between field conditions and grades and notes shown on the contract _ <br /> documents. <br /> SECTION 31 - INSPECTION <br /> The Contractor's attention is directed to Section 6.09 of the Standard Specifications regarding <br /> the completion and acceptance of the work. The work shall be done by the Contractor to the — <br /> complete satisfaction of the Engineer, and in accordance with project requirements. Unless <br /> otherwise stated in the specifications, the City shall perform all required inspections. _ <br /> The Engineer shall at all times have safe access to the work during construction so that it can <br /> be ascertained that the stock and materials used and employed, and the workmanship, are in <br /> accordance with the requirements and intention of the Contract Documents. All work done and _ <br /> all materials furnished shall be subject to City inspection and approval. In the event the <br /> Contractor elects to work beyond the specified hours of work, or on a Saturday, Sunday or City <br /> Holiday, the Contractor shall notify the Engineer at least forty-eight (48) hours in advance to — <br /> seek approval and if approved, shall reimburse the City for the cost of overtime inspection. <br /> The Contractor shall notify the Engineer at least two (2)working days prior to commencing _ <br /> work so that inspection can be arranged. If the Contractor's work is suspended or no work has <br /> been prosecuted for three (3) days, at least two (2) days notice shall be given to the Engineer <br /> prior to performing additional work. <br /> The inspection of the work shall not relieve the Contractor of any obligations to fulfill this <br /> Contract as prescribed. Defective work shall be made good and unsuitable materials may be <br /> rejected, not withstanding that such defective work and materials have been previously _ <br /> overlooked by the Engineer and accepted or estimated for payment. <br /> SECTION 32 -TESTING <br /> Unless otherwise stated in the Contract Documents, all required testing will be performed by an <br /> independent laboratory, coordinated and paid for by the City. Contractor shall cooperate with the _ <br /> City in coordinating the necessary testing such as the gradation and compaction of base rock and <br /> asphalt concrete and the slump and cylinder testing associated with concrete work. The cost for <br /> performing re-tests due to failures, or additional call-outs if work is not ready to test, will be _ <br /> charged to the Contractor. <br /> Whenever a reference is made in the specifications to a California Test by numbers, it shall mean <br /> the California Test that is in effect on the day the Notice Inviting Bids is dated. <br /> Division II - 13 NEI Phase II Water and Sewer <br /> July 2007 CIP Nos. 7468, 7589, 7590 <br />
