<br /> The first paragraph in Section 86-5.01D, "Removing or Abandoning Existing Pressure-Sensitive Detectors," of the
<br /> Standard Specifications is amended to read:
<br /> • When a foundation for a pressure-sensitive vehicle detector is to be removed,the hole left by removing the detector
<br /> frame and foundation shall be filled with minor concrete, except the roadway surface shall be reconstructed with material to
<br /> match existing surfacing. Minor concrete shall conform to the provisions in Section 90-10, "Minor Concrete,"except that the
<br /> concrete shall contain not less than 250 kilograms of cementitious material per cubic meter for asphalt concrete surfaced
<br /> roadways and not less than 350 kilograms of cementitious material per cubic meter for Portland cement concrete surfaced
<br /> roadways.
<br /> The third paragraph under "Mounting Assemblies" of Section 86-6.065, "Internally Illuminated Street Name Signs," of
<br /> the Standard Specifications is amended to read:
<br /> • At least 4.9-m of clearance shall be provided between the bottom of the fixture and the roadway.
<br /> The first paragraph of Section 86-8.01, "Payment,"of the Standard Specifications is amended to read:
<br /> • The contract lump sum price or prices paid for signal, ramp metering, flashing beacon, lighting, sign illumination,
<br /> traffic monitoring station, highway advisory radio systems, closed circuit television systems, or combinations thereof, for
<br /> modifying or removing those systems; for temporary systems; or the lump sum or unit prices paid for various units of those
<br /> systems;or the lump sum or per meter price paid for conduit of the various sizes,types and installation methods listed in the
<br /> Engineer's Estimate shall include full compensation for furnishing all labor, materials, tools, equipment and incidentals, and
<br /> for doing all the work involved in furnishing and installing, modifying, or removing the systems, combinations or units
<br /> thereof,as shown on the plans,as specified in these specifications and the special provisions,and as directed by the Engineer,
<br /> including any necessary pull boxes (except when the type required is shown as a separate contract item); excavation and
<br /> backfill; concrete foundations (except when shown as a separate contract item); pedestrian barricades; furnishing and
<br /> installing illuminated street name signs; installing sign panels on pedestrian barricades, on flashing beacon standards, and on
<br /> traffic signal mast arms; restoring sidewalk, pavement and appurtenances damaged or destroyed during construction;
<br /> salvaging existing materials;and making all required tests.
<br /> Section 86-8.01, "Payment," of the Standard Specifications is amended by adding the following paragraph after the first
<br /> paragraph:
<br /> • If a portion or all of the poles for signal, lighting and electrical systems pursuant to Standard Specification Section
<br /> 86, "Signals,Lighting and Electrical Systems," is fabricated more than 480 air line kilometers from both-Sacramento and Los
<br /> Angeles, additional shop inspection expenses will be sustained by the State. Whereas it is and will be impracticable and
<br /> extremely difficult to ascertain and determine the actual increase in such expenses,it is agreed that payment to the Contractor
<br /> for furnishing such items from each fabrication site located more than 480 air line kilometers from both Sacramento and Los
<br /> Angeles will be reduced$5000; in addition,in the case where a fabrication site is located more than 4800 air line kilometers
<br /> from both Sacramento and Los Angeles, payment will be reduced an additional $3000 per each fabrication site ($8000 total
<br /> per site).
