Specification Requirement <br /> Weight,grams per square meter <br /> ASTM Designation: D 5261 140 <br /> Grab tensile strength <br /> (25-mm grip),kilonewtons,min.in each direction <br /> ASTM Designation: D 4632 0.45 <br /> Elongation at break,percent min. <br /> ASTM Designation: D 4632 50 <br /> Asphalt retention by fabric,grams per square meter.(Residual Minimum) <br /> ASTM Designation: D 6140 900 <br /> Note: Weight,grab,elongation and asphalt retention are based on Minimum Average <br /> Roll Value(MARV) <br /> SECTION 90: PORTLAND CEMENT CONCRETE <br /> Issue Date: January 5,2007 <br /> Section 90,"Portland Cement Concrete,"of the Standard Specifications is amended to read: <br /> SECTION 90:PORTLAND CEMENT CONCRETE <br /> 90-1 GENERAL <br /> 96-1.01 DESCRIPTION <br /> • Portland cement concrete shall be composed of cementitious material, fine aggregate, coarse aggregate, admixtures <br /> if used,and water,proportioned and mixed as specified in these specifications. <br /> • The Contractor shall determine the mix proportions for concrete in conformance with these specifications. <br /> • Class 1 concrete shall contain not less than 400 kg of cementitious material per cubic meter. <br /> • Class 2 concrete shall contain not less than 350 kg of cementitious material per cubic meter. <br /> • Class 3 concrete shall contain not less than 300 kg of cementitious material per cubic meter. <br /> • Class 4 concrete shall contain not less than 250 kg of cementitious material per cubic meter. <br /> • Minor concrete shall contain not less than 325 kg of cementitious material per cubic meter unless otherwise <br /> specified in these specifications or the special provisions. <br /> • Unless otherwise designated on the plans or specified in these specifications or the special provisions,the amount of <br /> cementitious material used per cubic meter of concrete in structures or portions of structures shall conform to the following: <br /> Use Cementitious Material Content <br /> k m3 <br /> Concrete designated by compressive strength: <br /> Deck slabs and slab spans of bridges 400 min.,475 max. <br /> Roof sections of exposed top box culverts 400 min.,475 max. <br /> Other portions of structures 350 min.,475 max. <br /> Concrete not designated by compressive strength: <br /> Deck slabs and slab spans of bridges 400 min. <br /> Roof sections of exposed top box culverts 400 min. <br /> Prestressed members 400 min. <br /> Seal courses 400 min. <br /> Other portions of structures 350 min. <br /> Concrete for precast members 350 min.,550 max. <br /> • Whenever the 28-day compressive strength shown on the plans is greater than 25 MPa, the concrete shall be <br /> designated by compressive strength. If the plans show a 28-day compressive strength that is 28 MPa or greater,an additional <br /> 14 days will be allowed to obtain the specified strength.
