STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br /> DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION <br /> SPECIAL PROVISIONS <br /> Annexed to Contract No.10-OM7104 <br /> SECTION 1. SPECIFICATIONS AND PLANS <br /> The work embraced herein shall conform to the provisions in the Standard Specifications dated July 1999, and the <br /> Standard Plans dated July 2004, of the Department of Transportation insofar as the same may apply, and these special <br /> provisions. <br /> In case of conflict between the Standard Specifications and these special provisions, the special provisions shall take <br /> precedence over and shall be used in lieu of the conflicting portions. <br /> AMENDMENTS TO JULY 1999 STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS <br /> UPDATED JANUARY 5,2007 <br /> Amendments to the Standard Specifications set forth in these special provisions shall be considered as part of the <br /> Standard Specifications for the purposes set forth in Section 5-1.04, "Coordination and Interpretation of Plans, Standard <br /> Specifications and Special Provisions, of the Standard Specifications. Whenever either the tern"Standard Specifications is <br /> amended" or the term"Standard Specifications are amended" is used in the special provisions,the text or table following the <br /> tern shall be considered an amendment to the Standard Specifications. In case of conflict between such amendments and the <br /> Standard Specifications,the amendments shall take precedence over and be used in lieu of the conflicting portions. <br /> SECTION 1: DEFINITIONS AND TERMS <br /> Issue Date: October 6,2006 <br /> Section 1-1.01, "General,"'of the Standard Specifications is amended by adding the following: <br /> • The Department is gradually changing the style and language of the specifications. The new style and language <br /> includes: <br /> 1. Use of: <br /> 1.1. Imperative mood <br /> 1.2. Introductory modifiers <br /> 1.3. Conditional clauses <br /> 2. Elimination of: <br /> 2.1. Language variations <br /> 2.2. Definitions for industry-standard terms <br /> 2.3. Redundant specifications <br /> 2.4. Needless cross-references <br /> • The use of this new style does not change the meaning of a specification not yet using this style. <br /> Contract No. 10-OM7104 <br /> 5 <br />
