Section 02310 <br /> HORIZONTAL DIRECTIONAL DRILLING <br /> existing active utilities for which the Contractor is fully responsible for locating and <br /> avoiding. <br /> 1.07 CONTRACTOR QUALIFICATIONS <br /> To be considered qualified by the District, HDD contractors must be able to document to the <br /> satisfaction of the District the successful installation of five similar HDD crossings. Similar <br /> HDD crossings are defined as installations with an outside diameter of not less than 10 <br /> inches over a drilled length of not less than 2,000 feet in similar subsurface conditions. <br /> Potentially qualified HDD contractors include Cherrington Corporation, Sacramento, <br /> California; Michels Corporation, Brownsville, Wisconsin; Laney Directional Drilling, <br /> Humble, Texas; the HDD Company, Cameron Park, California; and Mears HDD LLC. <br /> A. Personnel <br /> Drilling superintendents, guidance personnel, and drillers must meet the following <br /> minimum experience requirements in their current positions. <br /> 1. Drilling Superintendent—5 years experience, responsible for the successful <br /> installation of three similar HDD crossings as defined above. <br /> 2. Downhole Guidance Personnel—3 years experience <br /> 3. Driller—2 years experience <br /> B. Drilling Equipment <br /> The HDD contractor's directional drilling equipment shall be of sufficient capacity to <br /> successfully complete the dual crossings. <br /> Guidance Equipment—Downhole survey system: tensor steering tool system or equal. <br /> Surface monitoring system: TruTracker system or equal. <br /> 1.08 ENGINEERING AND DESIGN <br /> Contractor shall confirm through review of the contract documents and on-site inspection <br /> that the designated entry and exit areas allow the bore to be constructed within the <br /> designated areas. The Construction Manager will consider reasonable modifications to the <br /> bore hole entrance, pipeline alignment, and exit locations requested by the Contractor to <br /> accommodate the specific equipment requirements. <br /> Contractor's equipment shall include a pressure sub placed on the steering tool to measure <br /> the annulus pressure of the down hole.
