Section 02310 <br /> HORIZONTAL DIRECTIONAL DRILLING <br /> Contractor shall excavate entrance and exit pits, install drill rig anchorage and prepare the <br /> site as necessary to perform the work and in accordance with the approved plans. <br /> All paved areas, sidewalks, curbs and gutters requiring removal shall be neatly saw cut. <br /> Contractor shall install a temporary 6 foot high steel chain link security fence around the <br /> perimeter of the entrance side and the exit side work areas. Gates with locks shall be <br /> provided at the site entranceways. <br /> Upon completion of the drilling work the entry and exit pits shall be cleaned of all drilling <br /> fluids and cuttings and backfilled with approved compacted select backfill material. In <br /> paved areas, backfill shall be in accordance with the plans and specifications. <br /> 3.02 NOISE MITIGATION <br /> The Contractor shall be responsible for implementing the following noise mitigation <br /> measures required to reduce short-term construction source noise from on-site construction <br /> equipment to a less-than-significant level. The Contractor shall be responsible for <br /> complying with all mitigation measures described in the contract documents. <br /> Construction equipment shall be properly maintained and equipped with noise control, such <br /> as mufflers, in accordance with manufacturer's specifications. <br /> All construction operations involved with the project, except for the use of drilling machines <br /> required for HDD, shall be limited to the hours of 7 am to 7 pm, Monday through Saturday.. <br /> Thirty-five day advance notice is required for the use of drilling machines. <br /> The Contractor shall monitor construction noise levels. Noise levels shall not exceed 70 <br /> dBA during the day (7 am — 10 pm) and 75 dBA at night. As designated by the District, the <br /> drilling machine shall not be operated within 1,700 feet of any noise-sensitive receptor, <br /> without noise mitigation as described below. If directed by the Construction Manager to <br /> accommodate residents during normal construction hours, a sound wall shall be erected <br /> between the work area and all impacted noise-sensitive receptors as follows: <br /> A. The height of the wall shall be a minimum 3 feet higher than the highest source of sound <br /> on the piece of equipment with the highest sound levels and the source with the greatest <br /> elevations above ground level. Only equipment that is permanent or almost permanently <br /> at the site shall be considered. <br /> B. The wall shall extend a minimum 40 feet perpendicular to the straight line between the <br /> source and the nearest receiver position.
