Section 15060 <br /> PIPING SYSTEMS <br /> D. Drains <br /> Drain systems, operating at atmospheric pressure shall be tested in accordance with UPC. <br /> Drains operating under hydrostatic pressure or pumped drain systems shall be tested as <br /> specified in this section. <br /> 3.06 FLUSHING <br /> A. General <br /> Following completion of pipe system cleaning as specified in Paragraph 3.04, Cleaning, and <br /> testing as specified in Paragraph 3.05, Testing, pipe systems for liquids shall be flushed with <br /> clean water. Pipe systems shall be flushed only after they are completely constructed. Where <br /> minor exceptions to this requirement are necessary, they are expressly noted on the plans. <br /> Temporary screens as specified below shall be installed prior to flushing to protect <br /> equipment. <br /> B. Liquid System Piping <br /> All liquid system piping shall be flushed using means that will produce the specified volume <br /> and velocity of flushing water. The actual means and methods used shall be the Contractor's <br /> sole responsibility subject to review by the Construction Manager as described below. <br /> Flushing shall be considered complete for a given pipe when all the following conditions <br /> have been met: <br /> 1. Velocity of flow has been achieved for the minimum duration or volume of flush <br /> water specified in the approved flushing plan. <br /> 2. Water exiting the flushed pipe (when visible) is clear and free of debris in the <br /> opinion of the Construction Manager. <br /> 3. Temporary screens, where specified, are clean after at least 15 minutes of operation. <br /> C. Temporary Screens <br /> Upon completion of the cleaning and testing, and prior to operation, the Contractor shall <br /> connect the piping systems to related process equipment. Temporary screens shall be <br /> inserted in the following locations as a minimum: <br /> 1. Suction inlet of all pumps, compressors and blowers. <br /> 2.
