Stabilized Construction Roadway TC-2 <br /> ■ Stabilize roadway using aggregate, asphalt concrete, or concrete based on longevity, required <br /> performance, and site conditions. The use of cold mix asphalt or asphalt concrete (AC) <br /> grindings for stabilized construction roadway is not allowed. <br /> ■ Coordinate materials with those used for stabilized construction entrance/exit points. <br /> ■ If aggregate is selected, place crushed aggregate over geotextile fabric to at least 12 in. depth. <br /> A crushed aggregate greater than 3 in. but smaller than 6 in. should be used. <br /> Inspection and Maintenance <br /> ■ Inspect and verify that activity—based BMPs are in place prior to the commencement of <br /> associated activities. While activities associated with the BMP are under way, impact weekly <br /> during the rainy season and of two-week intervals in the non-rainy season to verify <br /> continued BMP implementation. <br /> ■ Keep all temporary roadway ditches clear. <br /> ■ When no longer required, remove stabilized construction roadway and re-grade and repair <br /> slopes. <br /> ■ Periodically apply additional aggregate on gravel roads. <br /> ■ Active dirt construction roads are commonly watered three or more times per day during the <br /> dry season. <br /> Costs <br /> Gravel construction roads are moderately expensive, but cost is often balanced by reductions in <br /> construction delay.
