AECOM <br />Highway &Road Work (S3AM306 <br />systems, communication systems, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Assist with any <br />inspections or investigations as appropriate. <br />• Identify the Competent Person for traffic control or on the project. <br />4.1.2 <br />Flag Person <br />• Comply with the applicable SH&E Plan, Traffic Protection Plan (including Traffic Control Plan), <br />and communication requirements. <br />• Use appropriate PPE. <br />• Maintain training and competency in traffic control and Flagging procedures. <br />• Converse with motorists only to provide clear instructions. <br />• Maintain alertness at their points of duty until relieved. <br />4.1.3 <br />SH&E Representative <br />• Assist the Manager/Supervisor with implementation of SH&E Plan, internal Traffic Protection <br />Plan, Traffic Control Plans, and determined communication methods within a highway/road <br />worksite. <br />• Coordinate traffic safety on the specified project. <br />• Have training in the requirements of the governing transportation authority and the applicable <br />Occupational Health and Safety legislation. <br />• Be involved in conducting hazard assessments, developing the mitigating strategies and <br />reviewing their implementation for any project where traffic is identified as a hazard to AECOM <br />staff. <br />• Assist with any inspections or investigations as appropriate. <br />4.2 Training <br />4.2.1 <br />Employees shall be appropriately trained to the potential exposures to highway and road hazards <br />and the applicable control measures. Refer to the S3AM-003-PR1 SH&E Training. <br />4.2.2 <br />All staff shall receive on-site orientation to the hazards and controls, including as applicable, Traffic <br />Protection Plan, Traffic Control Plan, and communication requirements <br />4.2.3 <br />Only staff with appropriate Flag person (traffic control) training shall act as a Flag person. <br />4.2.4 <br />Flag persons shall be instructed on the specific project Traffic Protection Plan and Traffic Control <br />Plan. <br />4.2.5 <br />Flag persons shall be trained / certified in signaling methods required by the competent person. <br />4.2.6 <br />WOF, equipment operators, and drivers in internal work zones shall be trained to their respective <br />tasks and know the routes that construction vehicles shall use. <br />4.2.7 <br />Equipment operators and signal persons shall know the hand signals to be used, and <br />communication methods and requirements applicable to the worksite. <br />4.2.8 <br />Operators and WOF shall know the visibility limits and the 'blind spots" for each vehicle on site. <br />4.2.9 <br />Workers should be made aware of the ways in which hazards associated with shift work and night <br />work may affect their performance. <br />4.3 Planning <br />4.3.1 <br />The SH&E Plan, Traffic Protection Plan and Task Hazards Assessment shall be completed and <br />communicated to all involved and affected workers.
