A=COM <br />4.5 Traffic <br />Potential health hazards from asphalt fumes, concrete and rock dust. <br />• Lead paint on old bridge work and overpasses. <br />• High noise levels. <br />• Heat or cold stress. <br />• Work over water (bridges, causeways) <br />• Work at elevation (overpasses and bridges). <br />• Tunneling and blasting. <br />4.3.2 <br />Applicable procedures shall be consulted and appropriate control measures established. Additional <br />specific plans may be necessary for specialized work. <br />4.3.3 <br />PPE selection shall be based on the THA. Refer to the S3AM-208-PRI Personal Protective <br />Equipment. <br />4.4 Traffic <br />accommodation equipment, as required by the Traffic Protection Plan <br />4.4.1 <br />The traffic accommodation equipment may entail: <br />• A rooftop beacon light for the vehicle, <br />• Pylons, Glo-posts, Flags, barricades and/or Flagging tape, warning lights, flashing light boards <br />Advance signage <br />• Flagging equipment, as required: <br />o Daytime: <br />• Flag person's "Stop and Slow" paddle. <br />0 PPE including high -visibility clothing meeting local legislation. <br />Drinking water. <br />Bug repellent and/or sun screen as conditions warrant. <br />Optional radio communication (if required). <br />o Night time (additional requirements): <br />A retro -reflective "Stop and Slow" paddle. <br />• A flashlight fitted with a red signaling baton. <br />Flashing yellow beacons set up in advance of the flag person. <br />Additional nighttime PPE as per jurisdictional requirements. <br />Protection Plan <br />4.5.1 Each Manager shall prepare a project Traffic Protection Plan addressing traffic controls and worker <br />protection appropriate for the team's exposures. PPE requirements for all types of workers on the <br />road project shall be specified including surveyors, environmental, CIA, inspectors and engineers. <br />The Traffic Protection Plan may be a stand-alone document, or contained within the safety plan if <br />allowed by legislation. Plans shall address the following if applicable: <br />Closure zones within the project boundaries <br />Work zone protections: various styles of concrete, water, sand, collapsible barriers, crash <br />cushions, and truck mounted attenuators. <br />Guide vehicles. <br />Communication methods and systems. <br />Highway 8 Road Work (S3AM-306-PRI ) <br />Revision 3 December 15, 2016 <br />PRINTED COPIES ARE UNCONTROLLED.
