Geosynteco'
consultants
zone is where ISCO has been or is proposed to be applied. If the well is located
within the remedy footprint it must satisfy at least one of the criteria listed under
Criteria 1 (a, b, or c) to continue being evaluated for destruction.
4. Is the well needed to evaluate remedy performance? - This criterion evaluates
whether the well allows for assessment of remedial performance for COCs and/or
hexavalent chromium.
5. Does the well provide groundwater flow information relevant to the remedy? -
This criterion evaluates whether the data from the well allows evaluation of
groundwater flow direction and gradients within the treatment zone, and overall
Site background as part of the remedial performance assessment process.
6. Will destruction of the well impact nearby well(s) used for remedy assessment? —
This criterion evaluates whether the well destruction activities could potentially
damage nearby wells (i.e., nested or co -located well pairs).
Based on the Decision Tree, 40 wells have been identified and are being proposed for
destruction at this time (Table 2 and Figure 2). Well construction specifications for these
wells are provided in Table 1. In the future, as the remedy progresses and additional wells
satisfy the aforementioned criteria, the Trust plans to propose additional wells for
destruction. The following sections describe the pre -field and field activities for well
destruction.
1 W 1 3111 MIATI) 9 "WIT8110IN I I I
5.1 Pre -field activities
Prior to the start of field activities, Geosyntec will perform the following:
• Geosyntec will contact Underground Service Alert (USA) a minimum of 48 hours
prior to commencement of digging or drilling activities;
Geosyntec will obtain well destruction permits from the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD). If destruction via shot perforation
will be implemented, explosive use permits will be acquired by the contractor;
• Geosyntec will obtain encroachment permits from San Joaquin County or the City
of Stockton if working in the public right of way is required;
Well Destruction Work Am 4 June 27, 2023
