SIGNALIZATION NOTES: <br />1. Contractor shall verify location and depth of existing Caltrans detectors, conduits, pull boxes and other <br />electrical facilities before using tools or equipment that may damage those facilities or interfere with an <br />electrical system. Caltrans is not part of Underground Service Alert (USA). <br />2. Contractor shall notify the Caltrans Engineer prior to performing any work that will affect the existing traffic <br />signal operation. An advance notice of at least 3 working days is required. <br />3. All loops shall be installed and tested prior to final layer of new pavement. <br />4. Start the operational test of the system on any day except Monday, Friday or the day before a holiday. <br />Notify the Engineer two weeks before starting the test. <br />5. If adding new conductors or removing existing conductors, remove all conductors, clean the conduit under <br />Section 87- 1.03A, and pull all conductors in the conduit as 1 unit. Existing underground conduit to be <br />incorporated into a new system must be cleaned with a mandrel or cylindrical wire brush and blown out with <br />compressed air. <br />6. Locations of controller, conduits, pull boxes and other equipment shown on these plans are approximate and <br />may be changed to suit field conditions or as directed by the Engineer. <br />7. All utilities shown on these plans are approximate only. The contractor shall verify overhead and underground <br />clearance with all affected utilities prior to the start of work. <br />8. Place Type D stop bar loops 1 foot from limit line with 10' spacing between Type A loops. <br />9. Inductive loop conductors must be Type 2. <br />10. Loop detector lead --in cables (DLC) must be Type B. <br />11. Slots must be filled with hot —melt rubberized asphalt sealant. <br />12. The depth of the loop sealant above the top of the uppermost loop conductor in the sawed slots must be 2 <br />inches, minimum. <br />13.
