Printed on:Thursday 10/03/2024 11:40 AM 29C0083L/AAAO/136923Pageof3
Department of Transportation - Division of Maintenance Structure Maintenance & Investigations
7
UNDERWATER INVESTIGATION DETAILS - NOT APPLICABLE FOR THIS BRIDGE.
STEEL INVESTIGATION DETAILS
SCOPE AND ACCESS
There was up to 11 feet of water flowing in the channel below Span 2 during this investigation. No elements were submerged. On the day
of this inspection there were homeless living below Span 1, Span 2 near Pier 3 and in front of Abutment 4 which hinder an inspection of
these areas. A work request is attached to this report to remove the homeless. In addition, during this inspection the high volume of traffic
prevented efforts to chain the deck for delamination. A return inspection will be scheduled soon after the homeless are removed to
complete the inspections mentioned above. All remaining visible elements were fully inspected. A complete routine inspection was
performed.
MISCELLANEOUS
A new routine map view photo was added during this investigation. See Photo 1.
DECK AND ROADWAY
There are up to 0.25 inch wide transverse pattern cracks spaced as close as 4 to 6 inches on center along the wheel lines of the AC
approaches at both abutments. See Photo 4.
There is a pothole up to 4 inches in diameter in the middle divide and in the southbound right wheel line at Abutment 1. See Photo 4.
SUBSTRUCTURE
There is a homeless camp set up below Span 1, Span 2 near Pier 3 and in front of Abutment 4. At Abutment 1, there is homeless debris
and plywood blocking entrance below Span 1 on both the left and right sides. (See Photo 2). In Span 2 near Pier 3 and at Abutment 3,
there is a homeless encampment set up below both spans, and debris is spread out on both the left and right slopes. (See Photo 3).
There is a work recommendation attached to this report to clear the homeless debris and reconstruct the slope in such a way to provide
access below this span.
INSPECTION COMMENTARY
- NOT APPLICABLE FOR THIS BRIDGE.
CONDITION INFORMATION
SPECIAL INSPECTION INFORMATION
