The bypass switches are present to bypass the interlock if the
system does not get the proper feedback in the sequence. No deficiencies or problems were observed.
The pier protection consists of steel fenders with timber rails on each side of Span 6 (along the west rest pier and the pivot pier).
The fenders appear in good condition and there was no drift accumulating at the fenders or the piers.
Navigation lights required by Coast Guard regulation are mounted at each end and at the center of the fender at Pier 7 and on each
side of Pier 6, both at the top of the fender and at the deck level.
(06/02/21)Navigation lights ON pilot light indicator is not working. Its control wiring at navigation lights starter inside the motor control
center is disconnected.
The north navigation red light is not working.
Mech/Elect (06/02/2021) Utility power is provided to the bridge from the east side. Power to the Piers 6 and 7 is provided by means of
a submarine cable. The back-up generator is located off-site. The power supply is 240 Volts AC.
There is a lot of dust and debris build up inside and around the electrical equipment boxes.
Mech/Elect (06/02/2021) Double traffic gates are located at each end of the bridge. Each gate has three flashing red lights mounted
along the length of the gate arm. The gates are generally rusted with deteriorated timber gate arms.
Mech/Elect (06/02/2021) There are a total of six traffic gates on the bridge. Double traffic gates are located at each end of the bridge.
There are single traffic gates located at each side of the swing span. Each gate has three flashing red lights mounted along the
length of the gate arm.
There are three signal lights mount on a signal pole on the right side of the roadway at each end of the bridge. There are air horns
mounted on the poles.
There are flashing amber pre-warner lights mounted on warning signs at both ends of the bridge. The signs are approximately 1000
ft. from each end of the bridge.
