The abutment interface and a portion of the left wingwall are undermined. The undermining
measures 1 feet vertically and 3 feet horizontally at both abutments. Five steel shell piles are exposed up to 1 foot vertically at each
abutment. A gabion slope protection system has been installed along the full length of both abutments. Refer to Photo 6 through 8.
Non-Routine Inspection Element Notes:
UWI (05/05/2023): The columns of each bent are covered with a plastic shell. At the time of this inspection, the steel shell forms of the
reinforced concrete piles were visible approximately 3.0 feet to 4.0 feet below the waterline. The concrete within the plastic shell was
unavailable for inspection. No defects were noted, and the columns, 63 ea., remain in Condition State 1.
Routine (1/11/2022):
There is surface rust and pitting on the surface of the exterior girders and light surface rust on the rest of the swing span girders.
330 Railing-Metal 2 195 m 195 0 0 0
JOINT/APPROACH/RAIL ELEMENT INSPECTION RATINGS AND NOTES
JOINT - APPROACH - RAIL
(330) Railing-Metal
Element DescriptionElem
No.
Env Total
Qty
Units
CS 1 CS 2 CS 3 CS 4
Qty in each Condition StateDefect/
Prot Defect
Routine (current):
There were no significant defects noted.
