The gabion mattresses have settled and
pulled away from the abutments. Settlement of the gabion mattresses appears to have resulted from minor undercutting along the
riverbank.
UWI (05-08-2018): No conditions were noted that would change the ABME's assessment of this element.
Non-Routine Inspection Element Notes:
Non-Routine Inspection Element Notes:
UWI (05-05-2023): This element represents the 33 foot wide pile cap of the swing pier 7. There were no significant defects noted in
the submerged portion or the portion visible from the water.
UWI (05/05/2023): The piles consist of steel shells filled with RC at Bents 2-10. Reinforcing extends to an elevation of approximately
17 feet below the pile/column splice. Based on the current location of the pile/column splice, the reinforcing ends at a minimum of
approximately 7 feet below the mudline. The piles carry the same reinforcing as the columns and it is assumed that the steel shells
are not relied on for capacity. No defects were noted and all piles (63 each) will remain in Condition State 1.
