Lane closures and traffic control were provided by
San Joaquin County.
The investigation was conducted in accordance with the Non-redundant Steel Tension Member Inspection Plan, dated 01/29/2025.
This inspection was performed on a plus three month interval due to the UBIT being repaired in the shop.
NON-REDUNDANT STEEL TENSION MEMBER INSPECTION
A hands-on visual inspection was performed on: (i) the tension members of the steel trusses including steel gesset plates in Spans 1
and 2, and (ii) the steel floor beams in Spans 1 and 2. No fractures or cracks were found.
There were no changes in the condition of Members U2-L2, U3-L3 and U7-L7 of the left truss, and U3-L3 of the right truss that are
each bent inward approximately 1/2"-3/4" at the lower portal bracing connections. The member distortions were apparently caused by
repeated high load hits of the bracing.
There was no change in the condition of the vertical notch in the web of Stringer 4 at Floor Beam 4 in Span 1, located at the end of the
coped flange of the stringer. This defect will continue to be monitored in future non-redundant steal tension member inspections, even
though the stringers are not NSTMs.
INSPECTION COMMENTARY
3 - BrackishWater TypeB - Routine UWDive Type
Next UWI 08/31/2025UWI Frequency months 60UWI Required Y Last UWI 08/31/2020
Last NSTMI 01/29/2025 months
CONDITION INFORMATION
SPECIAL INSPECTION INFORMATION
