The cracking becomes pattern cracking and spaced as close as 4 inches on center near the abutments and over Pier 2.
It is estimated that 30% of the deck area warrants Condition State 3 while 60% now warrants Condition State 1.
The methacrylate treatment remains effective. No new cracking was noted during this inspection.
(58) (5)DECK RATING =
(36a) Rail Code 0000
333 Railing-Other
Corrosion
Delamination/Spall/Patched Area
Distortion
Damage
2
2
2
2
2
65
40
3
3
3
m
each
each
each
each
19
0
0
0
0
3
0
0
3
3
43
40
3
0
0
0
0
0
0
0
JOINT/APPROACH/RAIL ELEMENT INSPECTION RATINGS AND NOTES
1000
1080
1900
7000
RAIL INFORMATION
(36b) Transition (36c) Appr Guardrail (36d) Appr Guardrail End 50Roadway Speed MPH
JOINT - APPROACH - RAIL
(333-1000) Corrosion
(333-1080) Delamination/Spall/Patched Area
(333-1900) Distortion
(333-7000) Damage
Element DescriptionElem
No.
Env Total
Qty
Units
CS 1 CS 2 CS 3 CS 4
Qty in each Condition StateDefect/
Prot Defect
There is light surface rust throughout the steel plate rail and posts, notably on the left side.
There are spalls up to 2 feet long x 2.5 feet deep x full curb height with exposed and corroded rebar on the outside edge of
the right side curb at Posts 5, 6, and 7 as counted from Abutment 4.There is an outstanding work recommendation from
2014 to patch these spalls. (See Photo 4 dated 06/26/2018). This condition has been previously reported and no significant
changes were noted.
There is impact damage at the end of the rails on the left side at Abutment 1 and on the left and right sides at Abutment 4.
At Abutment 1 on the left and at Abutment 4 on the right the end of the rail is curled inward and at Abutment 4 on the left
the rail is bent outward approximately 6 inches along 2 feet. See Photos 2 to 4.
See Defect 333-1900 for details.
